How long for incision area to heal?

It has been 9 weeks since my PM implant and the incision area is still tender. No infection, but my clothing rubs on it, and it hurts. Does this go away in time? A bra strap is very painful. I also feel a prickly sharp feeling at times. Is this normal?
I am new to this group and am very grateful to read all of the supportive posts. Thanks for being here.

hi I am only 2 weeks post op and have not been able to wear a bra yet as very sore. My friend has just brought me a stretch bra with very soft wide straps (from asda)
I managed to get it on this morning and it is much better although still a bit uncomfy. I will stay bra less I think for a couple more weeks and try again. Might be worth you trying one as you are further forward than me xx

It depends, some times incisions can take longer to heal. Have you had your checkup and been told there's no infection?
It definitely gets better. I have keloids and the main problem is itching, but I still feel the stinging at times. Do you keloid?
You might need to find new bras - they can be troublesome. Also, invest in a pad for your seat belt, I find this troublesome since it goes right over the pacemaker incision.
This too shall pass

We all heal differently and have different timetables. My CRT-P was implanted 4 months ago and I am still sensitive to any pressue on the incision site. The driver's side seat belt drives me nuts in spite of using lambswool padding and I am constantly lifting it up off of me when I drive. I had to buy bras with straps that are set wide apart so they don't lie on top of the incision site. The stinging pins and needles feeling has finally pretty much subsided. The EP nurse said the sensitivity and the stinging feeling is because nerves were cut and they are regenerating. She also said the sensitivity will lessen in time. Hang in there. It does get better.
massage

Have you been massaging your incision? My plastic surgeon said that light massage will break up the scar tissue, make it less hard, and help with pain. Now it does hurt a little to massage it and it will be sore, but I've noticed a big difference.
Thank you all!

You were all so very helpful. Yes I do have a keloid scar. I saw my doctor yesterday, and she recommended that softly massaging the scar could help with the healing. I am glad to hear that someone else had success with this.
I had been concerned that the sharp prickly pains were caused by over exertion. Now I understand that it is normal. I am relieved. The bra strap and seatbelt issues will hopefully be resolved in time.
Thank you for your help!
