This is my first posting. I'm scheduled to have a PM inserted June 17 at the Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California. I have slow heartbeat and need advice on:
1. Brand: Medtronics, Saint Jude, or Boston?
2. Single or dual?
3. Rate responsive?
4. Outpatient or stay at hospital?
5. Other issues.
I did lots of research and found out that I need a PM and actually want to have one. I went to a cardiologist who had me wear a Holter monitor in 2011. It wasn't...

I received a letter today from my pacemaker clinic stating my transmitter has not sent a weekly reading in 3 weeks. I was not aware my transmitter was not working as the lights did not indicate a problem; nor did my cell phone adaptor. I have had a problem before and the darn thing went crazy. I called the 1800 number and followed the gentleman's instructions which included unplugging the machine and hitting the only button on the front... REALLY?!? 45 minutes of listening to the most annoying b...

Hi,
my husband (65yrs) has a very slow heart rate. 52bpm. He is not fit. I state that he isn't fit because Doctors continually say that a slow heart rate must mean he is fit! Works hard, but doesn't do any type of exercise. Is 6'2" and slightly overweight. For the past couple of years he has felt tired all the time. His heart misses beats. When this happens, he feels particularly bad. This happens spasmodically and by the time he gets an appointment the episode has generally passed. He ha...

Hi
Just had to leave an outdoor music festival Clapped, sang and danced Had a great time Sat in front row Lots of electronic equipment Next band set up and as soon as they started to play, I felt a fluttering sensation mid - sternum, breathless and panicy. I felt I had to get away from the vibration. I had no pain. When I got to the car I was OK . I had a St Jude PM dual lead PM implanted on April 23, 2014. Has any one had this happen to them or heard of it happening to others. Thanks

i'm trying to figure out if my stiff arm is leftover from implant procedure 5 weeks ago. upper arm is still stiff at times. doc told me to still be careful of my arm so i am protective of it and movement is guarded. I'm using it more and more but not lifting it high or carrying a lot of heavy things. gets a little sore if i use it too much. hoping this is normal.
thanks

.....of an event that affected all of the "Western World."
What is becoming a lifetime ago, my family was standing around a very large granite carving in a Munich Park. It was a young German infantryman, laid out on a catafalque in great coat, boots & steel helmet of WW-I. Our younger son, Eric (about 12 or 13) asked me "Dad, what's this memorial about?" The best answer I could generate was "Eric - the losers also mourn their dead." For a 12 yr old, it was apparently correct, bec...

I had my pm implanted for complete heart block. I went back to work with some restrictions this week. It was a hard week, but this morning I woke up feeling great, for the first time. Cough is gone, GI issues have finally resolved themselves. Tomorrow I will start getting back into my work out routine. I am thankful for all those who have given advice, support and encouragement the last month. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

I went to my dentist's office this afternoon for a routine cleaning. When I told the hygienist about my new CRT-D she consulted the dentist about how to proceed and the dentist said I must be pre-medicated before any dental procedure for the next two to five years. Now I have to take 2000 mg of Amoxicillin one hour before I go to the office.
This all happened in Texas in the USA. If you have had similar reactions, I'd like to hear your story and country.
Thanks
I'd like to...

I had a pacemaker implanted the 23rd of May, 2014. This past Saturday(31 May) while at a restaurant, I felt what seemed to be a hot streak from my pacemaker to my heart. Has anyone felt anything like this?

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
