all done!

I finished the 5K!!!!! My time was a very pokey 41:22 but I met my goals- I wasn't last and I crossed the finish line :)

I was pretty tired by the last stretch, came around the bend and two friends from my gym were there waiting for me and ran the last bit with me. I'm blessed to have so much support.

differences in PMs

Is there a difference between a PM used for tachy-brady and one used for heart block or is it just a mater of adjustment?

many thanks

for the nice notes. i had my crt-d procedure one week ago today. thankfully all went well. surgery took a little longer than expected (6 hours) because of a pesky left ventricle lead but no complications.
my check today was fine. i feel great except for soreness around incision site. whew! l it's over!

your stories on this site helped to prepare me and calm me. well, maybe not calm me, nothing could have prior to surgery :)

Seeing an Opthamologist

Hi There,

I am very new to living with a PM, it has only been1 week after implantation and I am trying to cope with living with a PM. Tomorrow I need to visit my opthamologist, that I was seeing before the PM, for a check on my dye eyes and I am terrified as to what places I can go. I know it might seem silly but would it be ok for me to go for my follow up with my opthamologist?

Thanks.

Did not need the pacemaker

Just went to Cleveland Clinic after a change of doc that left me wanting more information. My EP doc left and I was not happy with the replacement so I went to Cleveland Clinic. The new doc told me that the treatment I had (total ablation of the SA node) is not a customary or suggested treatment for my diagnosis (IST incompetent sinus tachycardia). That I should have been treated with medications, not a pacemaker for life. Now I have found that the doctor that did my procedure has lost his m...

Lexapro

I haven't posted in a long time. I had my pacemaker placed in Feb. 2012 due to tachy-brady syndrome. It took about a year to get it set, making adjustments every 3 months. Feeling really pretty good now. Interestingly I had been having more afib episodes the end of last year. I have a lot of stress right now (work, going to school, family, etc) and finally spoke with my physician and he started me on Lexapro 5mg daily the middle of February. Well it is strang but ever since then my afib ha...

Medicare and replacement pacemaker

On Friday I will be receiving my third pacemaker. Just like the first time the remaining life of the battery determined that replacement was necessary. The major difference this time was that I was informed that my insurance, Medicare, would not cover the cost if it was changed "too early"....Therefore, I have been having it checked every 3 to 4 weeks for the past 3 months. My last check up, 3 weeks ago, I was told that it was time for a replacement. At that time, I mentioned being fatigue...

Appointment

Well, Tomorrow is the day I go back to the Cardiologist to find out if I will be getting a PM. I am very nervous and but will be relieved to find out some answers. I am so glad I came across this website. Reading the post on this website has actually made me feel better, and if he says that I need one, I know I will be ok. And hey I may even feel better, right.

I may be getting a PM because my HR has been in the 40’s and I get( I call it) swimmy head a lot. I just got done weari...

Old age is not for "wussies".....................

Summary of Life

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:

1) Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.
2) Wrinkles don't hurt.
3) Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts
4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground...
5) Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside.
6) Old age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy..

THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:

Dance Research

Hi guys,

I had a pacemaker fitted back in 2009 and now I'm studying at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. I'm in the 2nd year of my degree and I'm making a piece of choreography on the 'heart'. I was just wondering if any of you would be willing to talk to me about your own personal experience for my research?

Thank you!
