Eight weeks in, and though doctors and surgeons etc are very happy with me, I am not. I go from 80% as I was before PM to
40% and feeling very unsteady and unwell at other times. The heart beats very hard against my chest, and I am tired and
unsteady. Other times I play 18 holes of golf with no trouble, as I did before the PM. I am used to doctors and consultants
looking distressed and saying they do not know the cause (my poor wife went through two tiring and finally fatal yea...

Crazy Day Dreams- groggy/ fainting dreams

Is anyone having crazy dreams or is it just me? These dreams that I have are always during the day. I will fall asleep and then have dreams about fainting. Everything in my dream will get blurry and foggy and it feels like I am really about to faint except I never get to wake up from my dream.I have a pacemaker and technically I can't pass out but in my dreams I get so groggy. When I wake up I am incredibly tired and exhausted from fainting in my dream and drowsy to the point where it is hard t...

My Mom

My mom recently had a pacemaker, around 3 months ago I'd say. Around 4 weeks in she started to get pain/pins and needles feeling and bad discomfort and it hasn't stopped since. She had an xray which showed that the leads were displaced, however, when she went in to have the leads sorted out, they did a second xray which showed that the leads were fine. The doctor said that the original xray could have been taken at a wrong angle? I personally think she needs another xray to make sure everythin...

Serenity

"God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy with Him

Pacemaker Blues!!

Hi everyone! Ya I finally crawled out from under some rocks & want to Thank everyone for your well wishes. I had my 5th pacemaker removed weeks ago because of erosion and have been treated with Vancomycin IVs for the past 5 weeks at a Cartel Inn care facility. I had my 6th pacemaker implant done last Friday & returned back to the care facility Saturday.
I have this new implant in my belly on my right side under muscle & located just below my belt line. So far this has been my most com...

Squwabbit ?????

ok... here's my animal story. Granted, it may not be as exciting as donr's "nose-to-nose" bear encounter, but it's real and quite puzzling.
Yesterday, I was sitting on my back deck reading a book, when I heard a commotion around one of the bird feeders... we have 2 feeders...one is enclosed, and distributes the feed slowly at the bottom...the other feeder is an open plate like, which usually attracts the larger birds, like the doves or jays. The smaller birds seem to like the enclosed...

I am in mourning

I've always been hyper-sensitive to caffeine, went 20 years without it, decaf too late in the day could keep me up all night. Then I went on a beta blocker and discovered I could handle a little bit, like one real coffee a few times a week. Oh happy me! But then I started getting racy/fluttery feelings a few months ago. It kept getting worse, and I realized I've been gradually upping my coffee to one a day then two a day. I cut it out for a few days, no episodes. I had a big, lovely iced coffee...

A Bumpy Ride

An interesting case is reported in the UK press today.

A 65 year old man was exercising on his cross-trainer at home when his HR increased to 195 bpm and he had severe chest pain.

His wife called an ambulance which hit an enormous pothole in the road during the 5 mile ride to the hospital. The whole ambulance jolted , the patient was carefully lifted off the stretcher by the very concerned paramedics who noticed from the monitor that his HR had rapidly dropped to 60 bpm.

Twins?

My twin brother had a pacemaker inserted in January this year, I had the same type inserted last week.

My condition had been undiagnosed for 15 years, very irregular blackouts every 6-8 months and sometimes longer. My brother started to develop much more severe symptoms for the first time this year. He was in hospital for a couple of weeks and diagnosed with Sick Sinus Syndrome. When this happened I went to a (new) consultant and he had me fitted with a Reveal cardiac monitor. L...

Pulse in wrist

Can anyone else SEE their pulse in their wrist? I just assumed (I know) that everyone can but started to compare family and friends wrists and so far, NO ONE else can see theirs. It is in both of my wrists but the right wrist beats a little weaker (further from the heart I guess).

Some of my sons think it's freaky......that's me!!

48 hours since PM fitted.

Hi Folks. I have had my pacemaker fitted two days ago. So far so good. Left with minimal info from hospital other than a review appointment in August. I have been learning a lot from reading on this site, but also getting confused. I read about people knowing what settings their pacemaker is on and getting adjustments. I was not told anything about settings or knowing when they are correct for me.Should I know if my pacemaker has activated or this just happen in the packground.

Hot or Cold???

Happy Fourth of July!

I'm considering moving from Colorado to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida to be closer to a Mayo Clinic and am a bit concerned how I'll cope with the heat and humidity.

My doctor says it won't matter.

Does anyone have any thoughts or personal preferences they'd like to share???

Thanks alot,

Ron

new replcement

I had a new replacement on May 31 of 2013. My original unit lasted 9 years. I found out that the device will actually reduce all functions except pacing when the batteries get really low and it will signal the need for replacement. My new device came with in home monitoring unit called Merlin. It sends a signal direct to the doctors office at 2:00 am each day via land line, I no longer have to go to the office or do a long distance phone check. What are others experience with this?

New

Hi, we are new to this forum, my husband has been in a fib for a long time, at first it was controlled by meds, when that stopped working he tried several cardioversions and has had 2 ablasions ( sorry about spelling) just met with a new doc and he is giving us the option of a pacemaker. Husband is concerned because he will be completely dependent on the pacemaker. Also worried about it not helping. He has felt like crap for years now, he is 65. Heart rate has been anywhere from 90 to 120 or...

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
