I am in mourning

I've always been hyper-sensitive to caffeine, went 20 years without it, decaf too late in the day could keep me up all night. Then I went on a beta blocker and discovered I could handle a little bit, like one real coffee a few times a week. Oh happy me! But then I started getting racy/fluttery feelings a few months ago. It kept getting worse, and I realized I've been gradually upping my coffee to one a day then two a day. I cut it out for a few days, no episodes. I had a big, lovely iced coffee this afternoon (you know where I'm going with this, right??). Yep, a fluttery, jittery mess tonight, grrr. Back to decaf for me.

Moral of the story is, before you get worried about new racing/pvc/etc, take a look at your diet. It's more powerful than you think.

So Sorry Trace

I have given up a lot in my diet with no problem. Coffee in the AM...that would be tough to give up. After all, I don't have that many vices left :)

Next best thing...getting used to decaf.

High test gets me too, Decaf gives me stomach pains, (the acid they use to make it decaffinate) but I have found I can drink coffee-light. Tastes like the real thing to me....Hope it works for you.! I use Maxwellhouse LITE..Good luck, You do wonderful magic here. Bev

I switched to decaf tea. Every now and again I have decaf coffee...but I keep it to a minimum.
There are still times I miss my coffee.

If you like iced coffee, try cold brewing it. The acid comes out with heat so cold brewed is lower acid and much smoother, almost sweet. And that would be how I've been overdoing it! My stomach can't take the acid so I rarely drink it hot but I can chug cold all day and be fine. At least my stomach is fine lol.

Jax, I do herbal tea or decaf green tea, but coffee is my joy. I'll go back to making my cold brewed with decaf, or see how I do with half-caf. If I stick to one a day, it should be ok.

Grateful Heart, I'm good in the am, it's that lull after lunch! I am a morning person, get up and head straight to the gym after breakfast. An hour after lunch I'll be fighting to keep my eyes open.

Yep, it's a choice. I'll still probably choose it occasionally LOL. I'll just know now going in what is going to happen. I don't drink soda, and regular tea affects me the same way as coffee. When I was in my zero-caffeine (pre-beta blocker) days, I could even get racing from the tiny amount in a sudafed. I used to say I'm a cheap date, forget the cocktails just give me a sip of coffee.

Im sad too!

I was a late in life coffee drinker, not til in my 30's,not an addict, but I did like it.Always have flavored creamer,as I like more cream and flavor than coffee taste.
I went caffeine free last year when my troubles started, and was fine without it,I will say I love the smell, and it makes me sad when I want some, high test maybe, but know not too,I am very sensitive to caffeine,so I am cautious.
I do have a Kurig coffee maker, and have 1 cup of the half caf per morning, after that if I want some,I do decaf all the way.For me it's good, and Im thankful for that.
I haven't had a Dr Pepper in over a year,which was my cola or pop or soda of choice.Guess I don't need it,Im still here,so that's good.
I am in total agreement, miss my coffee, and I did like the jolt I would get somewhat, but I am ok without it,amazing what we can get used to if you must.
I do have a sip or two of pepsi for a thrill, but that's it,Im pretty much decaffeinated,oh well!!
