Hi Everyone,
yesterday I went for my 6 monthly check up and they found that I had had 65 incidences of rapid beats over 200. I feel that the meds I am on are not working but they think it's ok.

also, just recently I had an infection in the wound even though I had the pm changeover in October. the infection has gone but I still have pain just under the site which travels up my neck. the pain is there constantly, and when I told them this yesterday they told me I would just have...

Weight Loss

Although I monitor this site often I haven't posted in a while. Recently my wife and I have been dieting and I have lost 32 lbs. going for a goal of 70 lbs. (195).
I know we all know that weight plays an important role in our overall health and we each have different conditions. For me, my LBBB and dead left ventricle led to my pacer/ICD.
The weight loss (so far) has showed a definite increase in my overall health. To the point my carvedillol has been cut in half and many of...

Hello Fellow PM ers.

Just a couple of questions about which someone may be able to supply answers.
It is now six weeks since my PM was implanted.I suffered from Sick Sinus Syndrome and my procedure was done as an emergency.
Yesterday,I was again concious of a 'fluttering' feeling below the left nipple.I also felt faint and went to bed for a while. The sensation was not disimilar from those which triggered the need for the procedure. But my heart rate was not affected--if anyth...

PC or No Pc?

I am a former NFL athlete who is in relatively good shape and was told my heart has stopped on two occasions for 4.2 seconds and 6.7 while in a deep sleep. I had a 48 monitor as well as a sleep study test done. Sleep apnea was ruled out. I Was seen by an EP as well as a cardiologist both feel that this was a "soft case" as I am only 37 years old and no other health risks. While my wife was at the appointment she said isn't the heart stopping enough to make a decision.

As I am sure...

Minor Arrhythmia Question

With all the significant issues of members here I feel silly asking this question but it seems to be a persistent pattern. I've noticed an increase in frequency of arrhythmias so decided to keep track of them. In addition to random times, I have some daily at exactly 2:17pm. Do pms go through a daily test or something? My pm is the Medtronic Surescan. If not internally activated, could there be some external scheduled interference causing this? I've been at home since starting to keep track...

PAC runs

I took some time off from checking in with the site and thinking of my problems to concentrate on helping younger family members with some problems. I thought that I was doing pretty good. Have not noticed any strong palpitations, and my pulse monitor recorded mostly regular heartbeats. BUT today went for my scheduled interrogation and was shocked at the results. As the saying goes what you don't know can't hurt you. Hmmm, must be a very old saying. From April 26 until May 29, I had two Atrial h...

Update

It's been exactly 2 weeks since my first pm. It took 4 hours. Thank God they gave me general anesthesia. It took much longer than they anticipated because the implantation was difficult. They placed the generator below my left ribs on my side. The lead is placed on the left side right by my vagal nerve stimulator battery. I had a lot of pain afterwards. I had to get a PCA pump so I ended up staying 3 nights. My arm has finally stopped hurting so much. It throbbed for days. I'm experiencing some...

Help Me Understand

I am 45 years old. I found out I had a heart problem 9 years ago. Since then I have had CHF, MVR, TIA, another MVR and a pacemaker. The doctor told me that my Ejection Fraction is 15%. Can someone please tell me what that means in everyday language? What can I do? I'm the head of my household. I cook, clean, run errands etc. for my family.

Morning all

Just a quick up date.

Got home late Thursday night, feeling a bit tired but better. Friday, the wife took me for a ride and we had a good time. Saturday, I was wiped out and turn into a rest day. Sunday was family day and a crawfish boil. Paid the price for that by putting on a few extra pounds of fluid weight. Yesterday was a low keyed day having some of my sons friends over with there kids to fish my pond. They had a blast catching fish and it was fun for me to help and watch.

Feeling better

Hello,

It has been I while since I asked about when this get normal. I am happy to say that it is getting more normal. (Probably never get back to pre-PM.)

Just out of curiosity, before my major heart changes, I had a spat of shocking myself. It would seem that everything I would touch gave a spark. Did anyone ever experience this before your heart's electrical system went haywire?

svc narrowing

Well I am quite upset as I am sitting in the hospital with svc syndrome. CT scan shows a narrowing. I am waiting to hear from the EP doc as to where exactly the narrowing is. I have been having significant sympoms including nose bleeds, pressure in neck and head, swelling of arms neck and face, as well as significant blueness from heart level up. Inga, I know you have had this, is there anyone else here that has had this? If so what did they do to fix it? The cause is unknown at this time but i...

Colon Polyps - Redux

I'm Baaaaaaack!

A bit worse for the wear.

There is NO SUCH THING as a routine colonoscopy!

I went in expecting to go home to a normal life & instead wound up lighter by some 18" of colon & sporting a scar from Zyphoid Process to pubic bone, packed to the gills w/ Titanium staples.

Oh, BTW - it was found to be benign!

Nothing about the procedure was "Normal." As best I can describe it, my surgeon is a shaman from an aboriginal tribe in t...

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
