Hi!

I'm not into cycling as I need my pacemaker's rate response a lot - the pacemaker needs to adjust my heart rate when I exercise -, and bicycling is just something that the rate response doesn't "like". Basically that means it doesn't respond well to bicycling, and increases the heart rate much too slowly. That's because the sensor needs upper body movement to "realize" that I'm exercising, and when cycling there isn't much upper body movement.

Anyways, I came across a blog from someone with a pacemaker who does lots of cycling:

Maybe that's helpful and encouraging for you to read.

how do you pace?

As Inga said, rate response doesn't work well with cycling so it depends how you pace. I have av block so I pace ventricle and do not use RR, so I can cycle without any problems. We have quite a few members who are serious cyclists, who do biathlons and triathlons. If you depend on the pm to sense movement and raise your rate with activity, it may not catch on that you are exercising on the bike. Try it and see how you feel.

You know you're wired when...
