Hello Fellow PM ers.
Just a couple of questions about which someone may be able to supply answers.
It is now six weeks since my PM was implanted.I suffered from Sick Sinus Syndrome and my procedure was done as an emergency.
Yesterday,I was again concious of a 'fluttering' feeling below the left nipple.I also felt faint and went to bed for a while. The sensation was not disimilar from those which triggered the need for the procedure. But my heart rate was not affected--if anything it was slightly faster.I have an appointment in two weeks time with the PM tech dept.Need I worry about this ,or wait for the appointment?
Also, how long before I can raise my arms above my head as before? Finally, what is 'normal' timeline for the scar to blend in with my normal skin colour??Mine is still quite red and I still cannot totally say I am accostomed to having that hard rectangular 'object under my collarbone area.LOL

everyone heals differently... I have had my pm for about 3 1/2 months... I think the scar is finally healed.. I still think this thing moves around ( hey, was that bump here before? ... did this device just make a 90 degree turn? )...but I am feeling more confident with it... I haev experienced fluttering feelings, small shocks... little pains and twinges here & there..achy shoulder ... not really sure which are real and which may be imagined... However, that being said, I think you should try not worrying about things...at first, I would worry about everything...my pulse rate... my scar...lifting my arm...wires in my heart... everything little thing ... Finally, I just decided to get on with doing what I wanted to do and just see how it goes...It's really new territory, and takes time to learn to maneuver around... sounds like you are doing fine overall... perhaps, as TraceyE mentioned, it may be just a PM adjustment to get you back up and running...
anyway... hang in there... lots of good info and advice here at the club... lots of experience here you can learn from... I have learned a tremendous amount from just reading here...
good luck, and let us know how things turn out... stay in touch

I wouldn't be here if it were not for this amazing technology inside of me.
adjusting

Fluttering isn't a big deal but if you are feeling faint, I would not wait two more weeks. It's common to adjust the settings at the first appointment. They often start it at a higher voltage than what we need until the leads get settled in and the heart gets used to pacing, then they turn in it back to the minimum we need to get the heart to beat. It's also common to take a few tries to get rate response tweaked for your needs. They start with an educated guess but there are a variety of sensitivity settings.
You should be able to raise your arm now. Drs vary on how long but 6 weeks is average.
Scar, depends on your skin. Mine took about a year to turn white and blend in. I used medical grade vitamin e on it. As for the lump, it can take 6 months to a year to settle in fully. Some always have a bit of a lump but many of us find it eventually blends in.
