Colon Polyps - Redux

I'm Baaaaaaack!

A bit worse for the wear.

There is NO SUCH THING as a routine colonoscopy!

I went in expecting to go home to a normal life & instead wound up lighter by some 18" of colon & sporting a scar from Zyphoid Process to pubic bone, packed to the gills w/ Titanium staples.

Oh, BTW - it was found to be benign!

Nothing about the procedure was "Normal." As best I can describe it, my surgeon is a shaman from an aboriginal tribe in the Oz Outback who stirred around in my innards w/ a stick trying to devine the future. If he saw anything, he did not tell me what it was. The recovery went downhill from there.

Taking Ian's advice, I made it a point to get out of the Hosp before a long holiday, so came home Sat.

Boy, is it good to be sleeping in my own bed again.

My humblest apologies for not getting to you sooner - but I was so shot while in the hosp post-op that I could not even think of turning on the laptop. I did not want to even turn my desktop when I got home, but on Sat Pm was forced into it because w/o it I have no cell phone service. I saw the myriad of msgs awaiting me, so Sun sometime I responded to one from Janey & asked her to end the suspense.

I still owe 19 Pvt Msg replies, which I will get to over the next few days as I get stronger.

THank you for all the best wishes you sent me.

It's great to be alive - even w/ aches & pains.

Don

Hi Don, I'm a newb. Glad to hear your out of the hospital. As an R.N. I can honestly tell you that the sooner your out the better. The foods not so great, the beds are worse. We never let people rest and for the most part everything is no fun.
Glad your home and recovering in YOUR OWN BED!

And congrats on the results. Big congrats!

Whew!

So glad to read your short description of your latest adventure, and as always, you made me smile! Really.
Just more to add to your long list of medical experiences, not that you need to add,but now you have more, which Im happy to read the test was all good on the stuff they removed.
So, guess its a bit of weight loss, the hard way to lose weight,I know you will make a full recovery from this, and will be no worse for wear.
As I said before in a previous post,I hope youre being a good patient, with your wife and daughter(s),I'm sure theyre keeping close tabs on you,and making you behave!
You are an inspiration to so many here, and have been missed and worried about, alot!
You take care,and behave!!!!!
Still in my prayers,
Laura

Weeeeeeeeeeelcome back!!

That was quite an adventure to add to your CV or resume or whatever you use. I've hung out around hospitals enough to know that's no place for anybody, much less for a sick person. So be nice to your home nurses so you can get up and out soonest.

Sure glad you're back.

Glad to see you are back home. Having been through the same and having recently visited a specialist who was a prof in gut surgery he agreed when I said to him the bowel sulks and does not like being touched.Yes it us the pits in surgery procedures. I am just about to go through a biliary bypass and dreading it.

Hope you feel stronger soon and that each day sees you feeling better and not so weak. Positive thoughts with you.

Sincere wishes from Australia.

I'm so glad your test results turned out well, but sorry you're still not feeling good and had such a hard time with the surgery. Hopefully, you'll be back to your old self real soon!

Take care friend!

...and welcome home. Another adventure in longevity. I remember when I first found out a digital rectal exam wasn't as high tech as it sounds. Glad you're OK.

Glad to hear

That you are doing better. Just give it time to heal and I'm sure you will be up and running in no time.

I knew there was another reason I hadn't checked in recently. I didn't know you were having a colonoscopy with side effects. As I said in my earlier note today, sometimes it is true what you don't know can't hurt you. So now I can rejoice that all is well with you and that we can all have our lives improved by reading your words and smiling at your delightful sense of humor.....and since I didn't know, I didn't have to spend any time worrying about you. God bless.

Huge Welcome Back!!

You can't imagine all the thoughts & worries of all our combined members wondering from day to day how you were getting along hospitalized. It sure made my day to see your posting again.
Guess now it's this Don's turn back into the hospital. Seems I need another revision of my PM site, PM replacement (after only 6 months since last revision & replacement). This will be my 6th replacement of pacemakers since 1992 & having used up both left & right chest sites.
As my latest PM took a ride, took a 180 degree turn with it's terminals looking at my armpit. Now the erosion is at maximum risk & am scheduled for surgery June 17th. I will update my cardiologist within the hour & hopefully they'll take me sooner as an emergency patient. I have taken the route of choosing a top Michigan Cardiologist, Dr. Randal Leiberman at Harper Hospital in Detroit, MI. As I have a family member, RN nurse who has worked with him & knows him as a top renowned Dr. doing forums regularly.
As I've had preliminary interogation & paper work by his :Physician Nurse, she found I'm pacing on my own as my Atrial lead is not sensing which means lead replacement (removal), looks to me as it's broken at the PM terminal in my armpit.
So I've got 4 leads anchored in my heart, 2 from original left ste & 2 more from my right site. Kinda puts me into the 6" colon to 18" colon rmoval mode !! Hopefully in the next few minutes when I call my Dr's office they'll update my day of surgery as the erosion is now complete to warrant the job done NOW !!
Again, Happy you're home Don & doing OK !!
