Hello all, I got implanted on Jan 28th and am now back to running fires. As a volunteer only been a few small calls but looking good. Air pack is not bothering and that was biggest worry. Just wanted to share.

Does anyone with a pacemaker take Nuvigil or any other stimulant type medication? I suffer from extreme exhaustion and my cardiologist has put me on this.

Thanks for all the support the last few days. It has really helped me a lot. Today I went to carowinds and had lots of fun with my girlfriend and friends. My doctor said to ride whatever I felt like riding exept drop zone because of the big magnet. I rode the intimidator and a lot of other coasters. I am now in a good mood and feeling great and I hope I stay that way. I will keep everybody updated. My girlfriend had a lot of fun too. Just me and her alone went on some rides together. Also on the...

I just got my pacemaker installed last week and and found your club today. You club is a welcome resource which I'm grateful to have found.
I got my pacemaker because I was diagnosed with PVC's and an extremely low heart rate of 28-32 bpm. I also had high blood pressure that was pretty much under control with Lisonpril until now. Since the new installation, I have new-found energy but my blood pressure has been averaging 158/115. Does anyone know if that's normal after getting a p...

Hi all,
I am a 35 year old woman recently diagnosed with cardioinhibitory neurcardiogenic syncope with reflex anoxic seizures. I have had this all my life. I have fainted probaby 15 times that I remember, with numerous pre-syncopal episodes. Sometimes I am able to stop them from happening because I have a few seconds warning. I have had to lay down in the bus station, the department store, my boss' office, etc to stop episodes. The only time I have hurt myself so far is when I fainte...

I just got an electric generator installed at home. I lose power often in my area since there are lots of old trees and Storm Sandy was a mess. No power for 2-1/2 weeks. Anyway how far do I have to stay away from a 10,000 watt generator with my PM. I'm not going to give it a hug (although I feel like it)...it's outside the house. Will it harm the PM if I get too close.

I made it through another week of tests and I think I am about done, unless any of the tests show something they need to look into further.
I will have an appt with my cardio to go over all the test results and should be on the heart transplant list soon.

I saw the gastroenterologist/liver specialist yesterday and have been referred to a surgeon in Hobart for a biliary bypass. Should know next week when the appointment is. Our holiday trip is definitely off as Brian will find out on l6 April if he has to have spinal surgery. My mantra at present: one day at a time.
Thanks too everyone for all your good wishes.

4 more days and the PM goes in! Tuesday at 2:30. The Dr. said I would have to stay overnight to make sure the leads are ok. SO nervous about it all - not just the surgery but keeping a positive attitude afterwards. Hoping I adjust mentally and physically. I hope I will be like some of the members that have stated they feel like they could run a marathon now!!
Well, I will let you know how it all goes....
Any last words of wisdom???
Thanks,
juju

I have to get a pacemaker in a few weeks. My cardiologist is sort of recommending that it also be a defibrillator. He thinks there's a 20% chance I'll need it (I have a rare form of muscular dystrophy that has cardiac complications, hence the pacemaker, but there's not a correlation between the dystrophy and need for a defibrillator).
I'm nervous about inadvertent shocks from the defrib or other complications. I'm curious about people's experiences.
Thanks

If you have been having trouble posting, try refreshing the page to get a new spam code. It's been a little finicky lately but that seems to fix it for me.

I have been feeling really well this last 2 weeks, i have gone from feeling faint 24/7 to feeling good. The professor i saw in London told me this is because the hearts learns to cope, anyone else be told this?

Hi, all!
I haven't been here in a while, but have a question and thought someone out there in PM land may have had a similar experience.
I was at work 2 weeks ago and my co-worker pointed out that the thumb & first two fingers of my right hand were blue. No numbness, tingling, pain or anything like that, just turned blue. The hand was the same temperature as my other, non-blue hand. It stayed discolored for an hour or so, I went home, had a run and nothing else came of...

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
