PTSD

Thanks everyone for your comments.
Yes, a month ago I was "Mule Kicked" 31 times...and then another 8 in the hospital...prior to that only once a year ago.
A psychologist stationed at my heart clinic primarily for people like us, dx'd me with PTSD. So he'll begin the process of doing whatever he has to do.
Being retired military I certaintly was aware of PTSD, but never ever did I think I'd be as shook up as I am still to this very moment.
So best case scenario like you said it'll get better.
Thanks so much to each and everyone of you for your comments.
And all the best to each of you.

PTSD & ICD's

Ron: Yes, there are some. They may come crawling out of the woodwork any time.
I suggest that you Google on "PTSD, Causes, symptoms" & see how many million hits it gets!
It was not characterized as a malady until 1980, some 5 yrs after the Viet Nam War was closed out in April 1975. A lot of men (& women) who visited that place came home w/ it. It was courtesy of that dust up that it was finally characterized - hence it has a reputation as being associated w/ combat vets.
BUT the definition & symptoms can apply to cops, fire-fighters, victims of rape, attempted murder, auto & plane accidents, muggings, kidnappings, & yes, even ICD hosts who experience a "Jesus Jolt," "Mule Kick," or whatever you choose to call it. ESPECIALLY if the host experiences a storm of them.

I still feel great today and cant stop feeling excited at my "new" life. Modern day miracles through medicine and electronic devices are amazing!
You bet.

Hi Ron, yeah I was, and so have been a lot of people on here. Its a heck of a shock too realize how close we all came to dying and it took me quite a while and a lot of soul searching too get my head round it all. The good news is, we're still here, warm and vertical. Things do get better with time, my incident was just a year ago and it's only recently I have stopped worrying about it all.Life goes on ,we got another chance which lots of folk didn't, I will always thank God for it. Yeah, definitely PTSD symptoms ,but no real offers of help from the medical fraternity, just talking it through with my wife and a good friend, which worked.
Keep smiling through it, it will get better.
God Bless
Roy
