Caffeine

Does anyone know if caffeine is bad for your heart? I drink 1-2 cups per day and feel pretty good. (I have a 2nd degree heart block and have a PM which was implanted 2 years ago).

Merlin has seen his last upload...

I woke up yesterday to a loud BOOM! Lightening struck our house again. We are fine, but Merlin, is not. He has suffered a severe blow to his electrical system and it has been deemed by me that he has enjoyed his last upload from my pacemaker. I have run through all the test that I can, but no response.

This is my second MERLIN, as this has happened to us before.... My pacemaker and me. Lightening and storms are very common here in Kansas.

So Happy Easter to all those who...

giving thanks...

I have only been a member of this club for a short while, and I can't say enough about the encouragement and wonderful responses I've read while browsing here. Like all newcomers, I was scared, confused, terrified about what would happen next. However , with the warm and comforting responses from so many of you, I have been able to better cope with my fears and insecurities, as well as my physical condition. After further reading and just general browsing, I find it so refreshing that so many...

Does Medicare Pay for Pacemakers

I placed a message regarding the fact that the hospital where my mother is staying is refusing to give my mother a pacemaker due to the fact that they claim Medicare will not pay for a pacemaker unless someone is expected to live at least a year.

I received great feed back! Thank you Smitty, TraceyE, Zia, and AngrySparrow!

I deeply appreciate all the great responses and ideas I received from everyone. Your messages were truly enlightening and helpful.

Does Medicare pay for pacemaker

I wonder if you can kindly help me.

My mother has had esophageal cancer for 2 years (stage 4) and has been receiving chemotherapy.

The last two chemo sessions landed her in the hospital where she was diagnosed as having Atrial Fibrillation. The very last chemo (the third) landed her in the hospital again and this time her heart has many pauses of 4 to 7 seconds. Her heart was fine up to the last three chemo sessions, and in between chemo sessions, her heart worked well....

Bas AF and sleep apnea!

I had my PM inserted on Jan 28 2013......I have never felt better until a week ago I had a massive AF attack at 2.30am. Of my own accord I bought a Polar heart rate monitor which recorded a high pulse rate of 243 bpm's and a low rate of 20. A hospital visit as normal with the outcome a visit to my specialist. The technician downloaded the pacemaker info which said I only had a high pulse of 140 and that the pacemaker does not record the low reading! He indicated the Polar monitor was incorrect g...

Feeling shock in arm

Hello all, it has been a long time since I've browsed this site but I know you all are the one's to go since I have no one in 'real life' that has a pacemaker. Just a quick question, and I apologize if it's been asked before but I have had my pacemaker for 20+ years (I'm 27 now), I'm just about ready to get my third battery. In the last couple months I've noticed when I sit at a certain angle at my desk with my left arm resting on the desk I can feel every shock into my arm, I can literally wa...

A man and his ever-nagging wife went on vacation in Jerusalem . While they were there, the wife passed away . The undertaker told the husband, "You can have her buried here in the Holy Land for $150 or we can have her shipped back home for $5,000 .The husband thought about it and told the undertaker he would have her shipped back home .The undertaker asked him, "why would you spend $5,000 to have her shipped home when you could have a beautiful burial here, and it would only cost $150????"The hu...

Getting Better

Hi folks.

My long silence was caused by a serious illness. Cholangitis I found out yesterday. I went into hospital for an ERCP stopped breathing under the anaesthetic and ended up in ICU in a coma. It took me nearly three weeks to recover. I felt as if my brain had gone into flatline. I had my gallbladder out in l992 and have suffered from stones and sludge in my biliary tube since then. Twice it has become an emergency and this time was the worst I have ever suffered. I went...
