Merlin has seen his last upload...

I woke up yesterday to a loud BOOM! Lightening struck our house again. We are fine, but Merlin, is not. He has suffered a severe blow to his electrical system and it has been deemed by me that he has enjoyed his last upload from my pacemaker. I have run through all the test that I can, but no response.

This is my second MERLIN, as this has happened to us before.... My pacemaker and me. Lightening and storms are very common here in Kansas.

So Happy Easter to all those who celebrate! To those who don't, happy Sunday to you.

I will call the St Jude tech. on Monday an try to explain about the lightning and how MERLIN is so attracted to it with very negative results.

I have a pacemaker upload scheduled for Wed. but I don't think I will be able to complete the task. I hope they are understanding about it. .... Oh well, just another day in the life of a pacemaker patient. :)

To you & everyone this day. Thought lightning only strikes once, ha, ha!! I'm spending some time in sunny Lakeland, Florida trying to soak up some rays. Hope everyone also has a warm day to enjoy, maybe even looking for Easter eggs.

What is a Merlin? it might have struck your outlet instead of the machine. You may want to plug it in a different outlet to see if it doesn't work.
Hope you had a nice Easter.

Hi Karen, MERLIN is the wireless pacemaker computerized monitoring system that sits in my bedroom. It automatically uploads data from my pacemaker whenever the pacemaker experiences an "episode" or I am in danger or a scheduled pacemaker check. We have checked everything and also spoke to the cardiologist who monitors my pacemaker. MERLIN is most definitely dead and "they" are sending a new monitor via the post office. :-)

We did have a beautiful Easter day, I hope you did as well.

Thank you,
