Using a Sonic Care toothbrush

I just got a sonic care toothbrush and the directions says to contact Dr. If you have a pacemaker. Can I use this? Does anyone hear use one? What will happen, will my pacemaker stop working? Please help.

I just started using an electric toothbrush, and every time I use it, I feel kind of weird. I was wondering about that!

I have been using a battery operated toothbrush for a while without a problem. But the sonic one, just not sure. So mt4turtles you haven't had any problems using it? I have a Boston Scientific PM. Do you?

I got the answer!

I called the Boston Scientific place and they said, keep the base, charger, more then 12" (12 inches) from your unit. And the actual tooth brush keep at least 6" from your pacemaker. If your device is in the left side, brush your teeth with your right hand. That's all. I would think if you have any side affects you should consult your doctor own about your particular device.
Thank you all.

I havent... well none that i have noticed while i am using it.. But let me add. I have been having lots off problems with my heart so if it's giving me any issues i might not even see it.. i know i am not much help !!
There is so many things that they say we are not to use that i have no idea about. My mom got me the newwave Oven which i LOVE !!! but its another thing you cant be so many feet near when on and believe me that is one thing that really sets my PM off big tie

Good Grief, not again!!!

I've been using a SonicCare for the better part of three yrs. No problems w/ my Medtronic PM.

I'm right handed, PM on left. Brush w/ whichever hand I have handy. Make zero effort to keep toothbrush away from PM. Make no effort to keep charger away from PM. I've had no problems.

Have you noticed that the toothbrush turns itself off when you put it on the little peg it stands on? If you did, notice how close it has to be for the switch to activate? That's about how close you'd have to get to the charger to affect your PM.

RE: the advice from BS. That was at least approved by their lawyer. His/her mission is to protect BS' wallet from bottom feeding PM hosts out to dip into someone's deep pockets in a lawsuit. Need I say more?

Don't worry about it.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
