Who out there has experience with having a MRI compatible PM. I am going to ask for one as I have other health issues and will need MRIs in the future. Are they bigger? If so how big? Is the surgery any different and can you have them inserted under the muscle so it does not show so much. I am going to ask my surgeon these questions but wanted to hear what any of you have to say. Thanks

I been reading about the shooting pain some people are having with their defribrillator. I have told my doctor about my having about 6-7 shooting pain episodes a day. I had my defibrillator placed in June and the shooting pain has increased, not gotten better. My doctor said this is normal and nothing has changed. Its a normal healing process. I have had about two eppisodes of waking up with my body feeling like it has been vibrating. He said that was psycological? I am concerned about thi...

Hi I've had my pacemaker in since 2004,and all has been great with it, no problems.
Had to have a check as its due to be replaced next march, they said i have 6 months left on it.
When it was checked they said there were a couple of increased heart rate, but not to worry.
As anyone else had to go in earlier than planned for a few pacemaker, when battery is getting up to it's use by date?

A year ago today I had my CRT-D implanted. It does a good job and luckily I have not been zapped. I do need a heart transplant and PM is helping me go on so I can get my new heart. I am also grateful for this site and the members. I learn so much from everyone and sometimes I even add my two cents worth. :)
Happy Holidays to all!

Subject: Holiday Cheer!
Hi everyone!
With the holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience with you about drinking and driving.
As you may know some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time, on the way home after a "night of celebrating" with friends.
Well, two nights ago, I was out for an evening with the guys and
had several cocktails followed by some rather nice white...

I have been disgnosed with low heart rate that goes in the low 30s. Physically I don't feel that bad, am still able to play volleyball, workout in the gym, during my workouts, my rate goes to 100bpm, my rates fluctuate during the course of the day from 65 to 30 at rest. All my life I have been very althetic and in good shape. I am at my mid 50s, male.
The cardiologist said it all depends on how I feel. If I feel really weak and not function well, then I will need a PM.

I came across this very simple explanation for anaesthetists[anaesthesiologists] about pacemakers. It is a bit long [22 pages of pdf doc] but an easy read with dry humour and diagrams. It explains why things like electrocautery is a problem in surgery and the different settings on the pacemaker. It explained to me some of the different readings on an ECG printout too.

..........I have been musing over differences in methods of measurement. How do you explain this ?
Pretty well every motor car tyre (tire) that I have ever come across is measured Imperially for rim diameter and Metrically for width. For example my car has 16 inch x 205 millimetre tyres. Now I know this wont help us one damn next week when the world comes to an end, but I sure would like to know before Armageddon because Mrs TM and I will be very busy that day.
A prom...

Hello everybody:
I just had my PM checked, and a few setting changed by device manager RN. I have a Medtronic, Versa VEDRO1 which was implanted 2 wks ago. On the 3rd day PO, they turned the sleep mode on, from 12 PM to 7 AM EST, and changed the lower rate from 60 to 40 because I could not sleep at night " my HR was as low as 30s while I was sleeping ". That helped a lot but, today I asked them, about traveling to a different time zone, or out of the country, and what should I do about time a...

Just out from having my PM placed below the muscle - cant even find it!
Much less pain already. Most pain is from cleaning ou the old pocket, Surgeon says he has seldom seen such keloid? scarring and had to cut and scrape for ages.
Looking at the x-ray from before the op it seems to me that the ventricular lead goes very far down, going a way past a curved shadow that I assume is my diaphragm. Doesn't look right to mr (the proffessional) The trouble is, in all the early morning rush,...

Hi there - I am driving myself a bit crazy and am not sure where to turn :(....The people on this site have already given me a wealth of information and I appreciate all of it!!!! I have been trying to figure out my heart issues for the last 4 years and am frankly just tired of it all!!!! I went to a new heart dr. yesterday and he wants to do an EP st...
