I came across this very simple explanation for anaesthetists[anaesthesiologists] about pacemakers. It is a bit long [22 pages of pdf doc] but an easy read with dry humour and diagrams. It explains why things like electrocautery is a problem in surgery and the different settings on the pacemaker. It explained to me some of the different readings on an ECG printout too.

Only for those who find this sort of thing fun though I'd suggest.

Robert - go about 1/3 way down the forum to post about turning off PM's for surgical procedures. See my comment about "Sand in the Gears." I paraphrased a bit of the Wallace PDF file & also gave the URL for it.
Pretty neat paper, isn't it. I've read it three times now & came away w/ more info each time. That subject has come up about three times since last summer, & will probably come up a few more times next year.
Don't think I'd like an "R-on-T" event.
