Couple of Alerts on Pacemaker

Hi I've had my pacemaker in since 2004,and all has been great with it, no problems.
Had to have a check as its due to be replaced next march, they said i have 6 months left on it.
When it was checked they said there were a couple of increased heart rate, but not to worry.
As anyone else had to go in earlier than planned for a few pacemaker, when battery is getting up to it's use by date?

My son Ryan is 15yr old and has had a pacemaker since he was 15 months old, when his pacemaker gets down to 6 mn. left he usually gets ready for surgery as his Cardiologist tells us when they get that low the pacemaker's battery life could suddenly drop.He just had his 4th pacemaker put in just before this past Thanksgiving because they found out it was defective and he had 6yr. left of battery time left on a Monday and then on Tuesday his pacer was drained of battery life and in 48 hr. he had a new one..basicly he was losing 1yr. of battery life in about 2 days. It's never a good idea to wait until the last minute. Good luck
