PM revision

Just out from having my PM placed below the muscle - cant even find it!
Much less pain already. Most pain is from cleaning ou the old pocket, Surgeon says he has seldom seen such keloid? scarring and had to cut and scrape for ages.
Looking at the x-ray from before the op it seems to me that the ventricular lead goes very far down, going a way past a curved shadow that I assume is my diaphragm. Doesn't look right to mr (the proffessional) The trouble is, in all the early morning rush, I dont know if the surgeaon even had a chance to see this. Surely he must have.
The tech was also there and from the readings I only have about 2 years left on the battery. It was only implanted last year and paces 17% atrium and less than 1% ventrical, (long delay)
Will have someone look at it in the new year!
Thanks for the encouragement
Shirley

Hi Shirley, I am happy to find you've had your moving PM back to a comfortable area of your chest. I'm also a great keloid sufferer, have in most of my surgeries. With my revision of 2 hrs work a lot of scar tissue had to be removed which caused a lot of swelling & pain. As I was put on Vancomycin IV before & also after the surgery I was fortunate not to go through infection treatment. I did have a huge fluid buildup making my site really painfull for a week but it resolved to find escape in a tiny spot on the end of my incision. That was a week ago and now my pain is gone along with swelling. My surgeon checked my site this last Monday & gave me the the big OK. He did say that the site clean-up was a real challenge. So, hopefully you also can get healed up & you will be happy having your implant under muscle. After having 3 PMs' just under my skinny skin added up to lots of pain over the years & as I've said before the last 4 years have been pain free until it moved out of it's pocket. It's been 4 weeks now & I'm doing well.
I really hope your incision heals up & you can be comfortable again.

Glad to hear you are already feeling better!!

I doubt if the lead goes past your diaphragm. Ask about battery life, that sounds pretty short.
