A Plea

Ian: et al: We have just suffered a major national tragedy. All 300 million of us are grieving. Tonight our President is going to address the nation at a memorial service.

Please let us grieve in peace & tranquility. There will be time for debate & criticism when we have finished our grieving process.

We still do not know exactly what happened, & will not until law enforcement has finished its investigation. Until then, there is more inaccurate speculation in the 24...

Boston Scientific CRT-D N107

I have a BS CRT-D N107 (defibrillator pacemaker). It was installed in Canada in 2009. I moved to the US a year ago and was surprised to learn that my device isn't approved by the USFDA and can't be accessed by my cardiologist here in the United States. A technician from Boston Scientific has to come and "unlock" it. I find this very disturbing. I live in a large metropolitan area of California and luckily I've never had to wait more than a half hour for the technician to arrive. But I travel thr...

Good to be Home !!

Hi to all at Pacemaker Club !

me and Mrs Tattoo are totally blown away by the fabulous caring responses that have come our way I genuinely am touched deeply by the way that PMC has stood behind us.

So, the summary ,to date,.. is that my fabulous Surgeon Dr Alistair Sandilands has, after the infection has been sorted out, every intention to take the whole kit out ..box..leads..the whole lot..as in..Tattoo Man will run without any assistance. My bottom rate is now 50 fro...

Electric fence

I was talking to my neighbour through our electric fence( an unfortunate necessity in South Africa) when my head acidentandly touched the live strand resulting in me getting a 5500 volt shock. My PM stuttered a bit but it was an instantaneius shock. What ae the dangers of this should it happen again. I am the chairman/caretaker of a block of flats that is surrounded by this fence.

Pacemaker implant and follow-up

Hi folks, just thought I'd share some experiences I've had in the last 6 weeks of pain, diagnosis and recovery. I always had a ton of questions, so if any of this answers someone else's questions then it's done it's job.

Backgroud, I'm an otherwise healthy 36yo male, married 2 kids 2 dogs and a great job. This has probably been my healthiest year in at least the last decade. I had been swimming 3-4x/week and lost 20lbs from the swimming (I'm at 198lbs atm).

In August 20...

Elevated HR

I've had my pacemaker about 2 1/2 months. Had some trouble in the beginning (which some of you good people helped me through) but some adjustments to the settings made a world of difference.
My question is, why when I drive or ride in a car does my heart rate go up to the point that I can feel my heart beat (almost feels like it's in my throat) and it feels pretty fast. I don't know how fast it's going because I can't check it accurately in the car. I get this same feeling sometimes when I...

Pacer operation

I have had my Medtronics RVDR01 Revo MRI for 4 months now and I'm a little confused, I think I know how it works but some time I'm not sure. Under normal every day use it seems just fine. But when I'm riding my mountain bike is when I'm not sure. I have bradycardia (and afib which is under control with Multaq) so the lower limit is set at 60bpm and the upper limit is set at 140. I know that at the lower limit the pacer only kicks in when the bpm goes below 60, but what about the upper l...

Good morning everyone

I'm still kicking. Been a very stressful time these past couple weeks. Loosing one job and loosing one health insurance all in one day can take the wind out of any sail. I knew it was coming and tryed to be ready, but that still didn't happen.

The good thing is that the drug company that sends me my dobutamine kept sending it even after loosing my health insurance. They fedex it once a week. This is a very high dollar med.

Well yesterday, I was able to get on COBRA insuran...

A new member!

After 27 years in the military, and 16 years at a major university I have entered a new challenge...a pacemaker.

For the past 5 years I was diagnosed with tachycardia. This month I have been diagnosed with Tachy Brady Syndrome. On December 10, 2012 I had to have a Medtronic pacemaker installed since my heart had decended from tachycardia to flatline three times in a row within 90 minutes in the ER. I guess that makes me officially a member of the Pacemaker Club!

All in all,...

Ouestion

I just received my Medtronic ID card through the mail, It is a VEDR01 Model. I called the 800 No on the card, to give them my phone No: and some other info. I asked them if this Model was the latest PM model that Medtronic has devised. To my surprise she said no, there is a newer model that actually is MRI compatible " same size ".
I'm wondering why my EP did not offered that to me, since I had mine only 9 days ago?
Does anybody in the group has an MRI compatible PM?, pros/cons? and...
