I have a BS CRT-D N107 (defibrillator pacemaker). It was installed in Canada in 2009. I moved to the US a year ago and was surprised to learn that my device isn't approved by the USFDA and can't be accessed by my cardiologist here in the United States. A technician from Boston Scientific has to come and "unlock" it. I find this very disturbing. I live in a large metropolitan area of California and luckily I've never had to wait more than a half hour for the technician to arrive. But I travel throughout the State with my work and wonder what would happen if I had an issue while away. Is there anyone out there with this same model?

Not Bull

Difficult as it may be to believe, it's not bull. I've been in touch with Boston Scientific about it and they confirmed that my particular model is implicated in (2) class II recalls. It cannot be opened or interrogated here in the US without a special access code that Boston Scientific won't give out.
