Hi all,
I'm new to all of this. My name is Tiffany. I am 35 years old. I was diagnosed with IST 12 years ago. Up until a year ago, it was pretty well controlled with medication. Since then however, my hr has been breaking through the meds and getting up to 200 resting. My Cardiologist tried just increasing my meds. I just kept becoming more uncomfortable. The halter showed my high hr as well as palpitations and a skipped beat here and there. I had my first SV Node Ablation in October....

Hi All,
Just been fitted with a Medtronic "Advisa" pacemaker on Nov 21st. When I tried to learn more about this model online I was surprised to find that the company web-site doesn't carry a single mention of this model. Is this model really not available in the US at all, and if so is it something new in India only(unlikely), or one that has been phased out in other parts of the world. Anyone knows?

Hi, It has been a while since I have been on here so I will give a little background. I had heart ablatations for a "tachycardia" in 2007/2008 and ended up with a pacemaker in 2008. I had been doing great with it until the first of this year and I went into a "junctional" rhythm that the dr. was unable to fix. He did more testing and said that this was something I was born with. I had two "patyways" instead of one and my heart rate would originate where it was supposed to but instead of goin...

A husband and wife are shopping in their local supermarket.
The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart.
"What do you think you're doing?" asks the wife.
"They're on sale, only $10 for 24 cans" he replies.
"Put them back, we can't afford them" demands the wife, and so they carry on shopping.
...A few aisles further on along the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket.
"What do you th...

Celebrated my two-year anniversary with my pm last week by getting a kale plant. I have this idea of getting a new edible plant every year to commemorate my pm, because like my pm, it can help keep me alive. Unfortunately, the mint I got last year for my one-year anniversary has since died. I think I killed it. Or, could have been that the container was too small. This time, I've transplanted my kale into a larger self-watering planter to avoid killing it. So far so good. It's growing and...

An old man in Miami calls up his son in New York and says, "Listen, your mother and I are getting divorced. Forty-five years of misery is enough."
"Dad, what are you talking about?" the son screams.
...
We can't stand the sight of each other any longer, he says. "I'm sick of her face, and I'm sick of talking about this, so call your sister in Chicago and tell her," and he hangs up.
Now, the son is worried. So he calls up his sister. She says, "Like hell th...

Just wanted to stop by and say Hi. I found out Wed that I am getting an ICD. I'm 42/male that has had 4 heart attacks and a quad-bypass in the last year. I didnt realize that I had had any of the heart attacks because my symptoms we not typical normal ones. I only ever had a sharp pain in my back, I thought I just threw out my back the first 3 times. 4th time happened when I was in the ER for an unrelated issue...
30 days after my Quad, they found a large clot in my heart. So I have b...

Hi, My husband is getting a heart catherization next week. Depending on the results, the Dr. will decide whether he will get a defib/pacemaker. He has already had 2 bypass surgeries & has a pacemaker. His heart is only working at 20%. I'm worried that the stress of the test & putting in a new pacemaker might be too much. Wondering if going through this is a good decision? Thanks for any replies.

I just had my first PM surgery 2 days ago- I work as a telco technician. In my work I climb poles, manholes, occasionally visit cell sites and frequently get zapped by poorly insulated wires carrying between 51v dc (telephone voltage) and 190v dc (T1 line voltage)- the latter can really sting! My cardiologist didn't seem to think it was an issue but I would hate to find out the hard way that he was mistaken. Last time I fell from a pole was over 10 years ago-would like to keep it that way. Wonde...

G'day.,
Just asking if any other woman who has a pacemaker has had a mammogram and had a phone call and letter to say "have to go back for more assessment"?
I am worried of course but I have no lump I can feel at all and wonder is it because all other Mommograms have been done before I had a pacer so have others found it is the pacer showing a change in the breasts at all?
I would be so grateful for any feedback if anyone would be kind enough to give me any info. as husband and I...

Hi all:
I finally had my PM implanted on Dec,5 and all went without a hitch. Today they discharged me home, I feel great and have taken only 2 Motrin for slight soreness around the incision area.My headaches, nausea, palpitations, and shortness of breath are gone however, my lightheadedness still has not disappeared completely. Does it take a while for this symptom to go away?
Thanks

Hi Everyone!
Received my pacer last Thursday and I feel great, still have some mild pain and discomfort which is to be expected.... but can I have a drum roll please...no episodes!! If any of you have been blessed to be a patient of Dr. Blair Grubb. then you know what a truly caring, compassionate and kind doctor/man he really is. When you meet him its as if you have met a friend someone that really "gets you." I also to have to say that the staff at the Heart and Vascular Center at The Univ...

Hi,
I've posted a few times and have always found you guys to be very supportive and helpful. I'm struggling with things at the moment and was wondering if anyone had been through a similar thing.
My baby had his PM at 5 days old, he's doing amazingly well and is now a fantastic little 9 month old.
I've struggled to come to terms with what happened over the past 9 months, I've jumped from coping fine and accepting things to breaking down & struggling daily. I've now been diagnos...

What have I learned about living with an ICD?
First
Knowledge is truly power!!
I found this site two and a half years after my implant when, like most of us who stumbled here, I was having issues in connection with my device. I was having scar eruptions after a lead revision and was seeking some answers for it as none of my doctors knew. To this day, no doctor I have seen knows what causes it.
Life does not end as you knew it. In fact, by the time you need a p...

I am looking for someone to talk to about the affects that having a pacemaker causes. I am wondering what is considered normal behavior... with pain, fatigue, moodiness, isolation... And mostly what can be done by me to help and support the one I love that has a pacemaker.

Early March of 2012, I had a Boston Scientific pace/defib implanted. The wound never healed due to a hematoma developing and later that March, I had it removed. A Medtronic device was implanted. A different doctor did this second implant which was successful, but I wonder:
1. What happened to the first device?
2. Did it belong to me?
3. Why the switch to a different brand?
I am not in contact with the original surgeons. Any Ideas???
