Just wanted to stop by and say Hi. I found out Wed that I am getting an ICD. I'm 42/male that has had 4 heart attacks and a quad-bypass in the last year. I didnt realize that I had had any of the heart attacks because my symptoms we not typical normal ones. I only ever had a sharp pain in my back, I thought I just threw out my back the first 3 times. 4th time happened when I was in the ER for an unrelated issue...
30 days after my Quad, they found a large clot in my heart. So I have been on a six month blood thinner regiment to dissolve it. 2 weeks ago went in for another echo and during the follow up I was told that an ICD was the next step and my appointment was scheduled for 5 day from then with the "installer"..lol
So off to another appointment on monday. Hopefully i will get a quick appointment for the installation and get this over with. Insurance reasons mostly.. If I have it done after Dec 31, it's another huge deductible.
Anyway, just wanted to say HI, now I'm off to read up on the forum about others experiences..

on my 2nd icd here, I'm a youngin 49 . lol... not middle aged yet... Wishing you the best there. guess the biggest pain in the butt of being hard wired is not using my cellphone on the same ear as my pacer, mines on the left side under the pec. best to you.!!

Have you tried using your phone on the left side? It's probably ok. I don't feel any different using it on either side.
p.s. I'm 46
You know you're wired when...
You can hear your heartbeat in your cell phone.

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!

You've certainly had an exciting year!!! Wishing you a nice quiet 2013. Thank goodness you ended up in the ER when you did!
Definitely push to get it done now, no reason to wait as long as it's safe with the clot. Compared to what you've been through before, this is nothing.
As you read through the other posts, keep in mind that many people come here seeking answers when they've had a complication. For every one who comes, there are thousands out there who had smooth procedures and are getting on with their life. Complications happen less than 1% of the time, serious complications are a very small percentage of that.
