I just hope these string of days keep going. I been getting out and about a lot. Something about fall that brings me alive. LOL Hunting season is here. YES! That in itself gets the old pumper going every time we get a cool front.

We just finished our Teal(duck) season which is a very short hunting sea...

Can you feel when pacer is working?

I have been wondering about whether or not I actually know when the pacemaker is kicking in - it seems that I feel a little odd (some of my friends would say that was just normal for me) and check my pulse to find that it is a bit irregular. Then it seems to even out - this has happend a few times.

Want my stamina back:)

Hi there,
It has been 6 weeks post surgery. I am doing well most days, however, there are occasional days when I just hit a wall of exhaustion. These episodes literally keep me on the couch for 1-2 days. I tend to be fairly active, and move about doing general housework, laundry, etc... Have been walking 20 minutes on the treadmill 2-3 times a week (@ 2 and 1/2 mph). I should mention that I have also had issues with my breathing, having a hard time getting deep breaths, etc...since my...

FLUOROURACIL (5-FU)

Hi all, I am a new pacemaker recipient (3 weeks). Just turned 60 years old, have always had perfect health, vegetarian for 37 years, low cholesterol, no heart problems ever. Had some recent injections of Fluorouracil on my nose for dermatological reasons, 8 weeks later I'm near dead and I need a pacemaker. Would like to know if there are others out there who have had a severe reaction to this drug like I did.

New member / Sorry in advance - long 1st post!

I sure am glad I found this site! What a relief it is to not be alone out here in pacer land!
My history in a nutshell: 5 years ago at age 42 I had surgery to correct a congenital bicuspid aortic valve, along with the ascending aorta, and whatever else they replaced I can’t remember without looking for my operative report. Since the time of surgery, I have felt great in a lot of ways.. a lot of the symptoms of the past have been eliminated. Over time I realized that I should feel better.. M...

Is this unusual ?

There is news arriving here of an 85 year old lady called Leonore Zimmerman who, at JFK Airport asked for a pat-down because she had concerns about her de-fib in the scanner.

She was taken for a strip search (and left a little injured). The fact that she was in a wheelchair and subsequently missed her flight has been dismissed by the Airport authorities.

Does anyody know more about this and other similar stories ?

It;s been about 4 months since I last posted, but faithfully go to this site 3-4 times a week. I have moved from the Boston area, to Houston,TX, and I don;t know of any cardio/EP. My doc back home gave me the name of a classmate, but she practices in Plano, which is nowhere Houston, I am also looking for a pacemaker/ICD clinic. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, tmuna

Total AV heart block last August 2011

Alan McDougall died (clinically dead ten minutes) numerous times due to heart block/and came back

I had taken nap on that Thursday night and a dear friend of mine phoned late at night, a thing he had never done before. I woke up hearing the phone ringing and immediately became aware in a frightening way that my heart was going crazy, almost stopping, and then beating weakly again. I became unconscious, sometimes coming briefly conscious, my wife immediately called the for the ambulan...

Purpose?

I have been "clinically dead" twice. Like Alan McDougal, I have wondered why I am still here? Finally, an answere....I have done the Heimliche (spelling) Manuever on 2 people and while eating breakfast at Hardees with a bunch of friends one morning a man in the corner dropped dead-face down on his table. with the help of a good dose of adrenalin I got him to the floor . He had no pulse and no respirations...I did CPR and he came back just before EMT arrived. What will happen this afternoon or...

Update on CHB after AVNRT Ablasion

Good afternoon everyone! I'm still in a complete heart block on day 26 and had a 20 minute episode this last Wednesday where I become flushed, shakey and lightheaded without a syncopal episode. I haven't had any episodes since but my phsician called today and we are going to more forward with the pacemaker. I just wanted to thank everyone for their speedy responsed with all my questions and easing my mind. It definately puts a damper on things but it seems as though most to everyone have had goo...

Marathon!!

Hi all!

I have been training hard for the marathon for the last 3 months and now it's only 2 weeks away I'm getting scared. I know mentally I can do it but just got to make my body do it lol.

Have had a really bad chest infection for 6 weeks and courses of antibiotics so I'm doing a lot better now.

My pacemaker rep is running the same marathon as me so he and my cardiologist have used my training as away to get my settings right. So I've been going in for tweak...

Multaq vs. Tikosyn

I'v had my Medtronic MRI pacer for about 8 weeks now. Its for bradycardia and as many in this group I also have Aflutter. My EP has me on Multaq but I have recently read that Tikosyn is much more effective with less side affects for Aflutter. Doe's anyone here have any experience with either of these??? Any information would be appreciated.

short circuit?

I had a Medtronic defibrillator implanted in Feb 2012. It was not working and they did a revision, replacing the leads in May of 2012. Now I am getting a feeling like a vibration or a slight electric shock, like you are touching an electric fence, over the area of the defibrillator and into my shoulder and up into my neck. It lasts for a few seconds then it stops. This happens several times a day. I went to the cardiologist and they did an EKG and they could find nothing wrong. They had t...
