I had my pm implanted last January without a hitch. The other day I had the opportunity to visit a friend who will be having his pm implanted on the 19th. Poor guy is so nervous about having a "piece of metal" in his chest. He is having the same cardio/surgeon that I had. Hope I was some encouragement to him. Told him about this site...hope he comes here...I told him about all the encouragement he'd get in here.

Today is exactly 6 months post implant and I'm finally feeling really good. So to celebrate for the whole week, I visited my PT, Chiropractor and GP as well as having 2 days of boot camp, 1 day for Yoga and today ran/walked 4 miles! I'll have my 6 mth check up with my cardio in a couple of weeks.
My heart works! And I'm reaping the benefits of a consistent heart rate. Motion is lotion for my joints so I'm moving now.
Feeling good took longer than I thought it would but as...

I'm 28 yoa and had a cardiac ablasion 10 days ago today. During the procedure I went into complete heartblock for approximately 30 seconds and the physician pulled off in 0.4 seconds from the initiation of the rhythm and then I returned to RSR. Approximately 2-3 hours post procedure my rhythm returned to a CHB maintaining a rate of 50-65. I was discharged on post op day three the my rhythm alternating between CHB, 2:1 conduction and RSR. I got a serial of EKG's this week and I am to follow up w...

I'm so happy right now that I can't contain myself! After many failed attempts and many many tears, today I found out I'm pregnant for the first time! I feel the urge to tell the good news to the whole world, but of course I want my husband to be the first to know (aside from you, friendly strangers). The problem is that he's away for his work and is coming back on Sunday. I'm holding the impulse to call him and say it by phone because I really want it to be special. So, I'll just tell you...

I have a PM/ICD with only one lead that is on the left ventricle. Recently I had to wear a heart monitor for 3 wks because I was feeling irregular heart beats. As it turns out I am having PVC's like crazy. I didnt think to ask this when I was in the docs office, but how come my PM didnt see those?

Hi there, I would like to thank those kind people who sent me a note via the club when I first joined, which was a while ago. I rejoined today with my new email address and an extended user name because I'd like to share the good news that at last I feel so much better. That's because my every-night-time excruciating epigastric pain of 21 years has not happened for the past month, so at last I'm sleeping well, and now feeling a definite benefit. Lack of sleep made me weak and ill, probaly caused...

Just wondering if anyone out there is a young person with complete heart block ? I am paced 100 percent of the time my heart rate without the pacemaker is below 30 bpm .. My doctor told me he could not bring my pacer below that. It scares me to be paced so much so young ( I am 30 yrs old) . I exercise everyday , LOVE the gym but always have the fear of breaking a lead since I depend on my PM to live ! I do feel a million times better since I have had this wonderful invention implanted into me .....

Hi,
My dual chamber pacemaker was put in just over 18 months ago. I'm 88 now.
My card pacemaker patient card states.....
Basic Rate 50 min MODE 0 002
Atrial lead, SN Selox JT 53 BIOTRONIK
Ventricular lead Medtronic SN type 4092-58 cm
I've no idea what these figures mean, but last time I had the PM checked, I was told I barely use it now. Can someone tell me what these figures mean? Thanks, dillymar

Does the term Chronotropically incompetant apply to SSS only??
I have complete heart block paced 100% on Atrial only. Set 60 -140 BPM when I first had the PM fitted I was also paced on Ventricle, but for some reason this has now started to work on its own again, so now only Atrial pacing. I believe that the RR is still turned on, as I was not told that it was turned off at my last interrogation. I feel my PM is programed inadequately I feel increased fatigue, SOB during activity; I wa...

Morning all
I got my pacemaker in yesterday, but very sore. I'm hoping this is the beginning of a normal life again. Back to walking my dog without having to have a sleep after I get back. Also looking forward to playing some tennis again.

To 'newbie question' by bottle... I was just diagnosed with SSS and at 49, had my pacemaker installed on August 20th. I have been told that each of us has a 'built-in' pacemaker~ if you will~ in the human heart, which is the sinus node or electrical part of our heart. When this becomes 'sick', it is classified as Sick Sinus Syndrome. This was what happened, really out of the blue, to me, which in turn led to Bradychardia (the mystery disease) or slow pulse. In my case, a pacemaker was the ne...

I am 100% pacer dependent and am on my 4th pacer and second Icd. I had my last change July 19th. I also have chf but ef has gone from 20% to 40%. My appointment at the pacer clinic today showed two short runs of v-tach Aug.2nd. I do remember one episode of pounding but not the second. Ever had this before? Last friday, I was bent over and when I stood up, I liked to fell on my butt. Here it is Tuesday and I been fighting this all along. Just sitting still, it feels like I been on a boat at sea for a week.
I did call my doctor. It is at the point that I fell today. Also my blood pressure is all over the place more then the norm.
Now if the room would just stop rocking.

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
