It's in

Morning all
I got my pacemaker in yesterday, but very sore. I'm hoping this is the beginning of a normal life again. Back to walking my dog without having to have a sleep after I get back. Also looking forward to playing some tennis again.

Be patient

by ohiolaura - 2012-09-12 09:09:46

I think the best thing I can say is to be patient, and give yourself time to heal.
Dont rush things, take it all slow, and increase things in a wise manner. It will maybe surprise you that you feel up to doing more, and then you might be a little tired before you expected.
Just be smart, and listen to your body,it will tell you what you can handle.
Good luck, stay on here, ask questions, and read others posts for information.

Suggestion

by ElectricFrank - 2012-09-12 12:09:47

One thing that helps for the first few nights is to sleep on the side opposite the pacer site, and put a pillow in front of you to support the pacer side arm. It can make quite a difference in getting a good nights sleep.

A lot depends on the placement of the pacer. The deeper the incision the more painful its likely to be so just use your own judgement about how to treat it. It's also important to move the arm around daily to keep from developing a frozen shoulder.

best wishes,

Enjoy life

Frank is an expert. I would listen to him. I am 4 years now with my pm and after the initial problems, mostly psycholgical, I have enjoyed four great years. Take it easy is a good suggestion. You can get tons of support from this group. I wish you well. Ann
