I was coming out of a Target store the other day and when I walked through the exit doors I felt something very strange in my chest.
It was not painful and I felt fine. I'm not really sure how to describe it, kind of like a muscle twitch you get after you exercise hard and then relax.
Is it possible that it was from the electronic anti theft system at the exit door? I didn't think these would do that.

Hello all. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and all the interference with my PM is getting on my nerves. It seems like everything in the house makes this thing go crazy. The taste of metal is another thing. I have that a lot. I had my post op check and they gave me the phone device. We set that on top of the fridge and it like turned the darn thing into a big magnet. Our microwave went out. We moved it to another room and the microwave came back on. My chest hurt and my hr was messed up for sev...

Hi,

Another question is does the feeling of having something in ones chest ever go away?

My favorite hobby has been flying radio control airplanes for some years now.
I got sick and stopped for a few months and now that I'm starting to feel better after getting my PM I'm getting the bug to go fly again.
I have been researching and it seems that the transmitters should not be a problem, they are low power 1/2 watt RF transmitters. mine is 2.4Ghz.
I asked the device rep before they discharged me and he said, rather vaguely, It's probably OK.
probably silly question

I was reading in the book they gave me about my ICD and it says to stay at least 2 feet from a smooth top stove.....I was wondering if anyone has ever had any problems with their ICD while cooking on one? Thanks.

Just had PM fitted July 30. Good recovery and great benefits!
BUT we have a holiday booked in an apartment which, I estimate, is about 25metres from overhead 125kv power cables. Should we cancel? What might happen? Will the 1 hour flight be any problem?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated by a newcomer to the world of PM's
Thanks

Hi all
I have just had a visit from my wheelchair OT (UK) and I am going to be upgraded from an attendant manual to an electric indoor self operated wheelchair.
One concern has arisen in that I have a pacer and its to be checked into if I will still be aok for an electric chair.
A net search has shown one site that has concerns over pacers and electric wheelchairs-the information may be outdated.
However is it aok for a pacer to use an electric wheelchair with safety?

I've been unable to read the site posted earlier but have found two government sites with information about interferences.
These sites seem to be in line with what I was told when my pacemaker was implanted.
Maybe one of the pros' can chime in...thanks.

Think I'd read the FDA one first...lol...as it takes too long to google the Canadian one. ;-)

Hello,
I have had a PM for 11 years and now on my 3rd device. I am interested in having breast augmentation and was wondering if anyone knows if this is possible with a pacemaker in place. I have spoken to a surgeon who tells me that he would need to ascertain where leads where and that generally pacemakers are in the same muscle as the breast implant so this may lead to infection etc. Are you aware of or know someone who has had breast augmentation when there has been a pacemaker in situ?...

Anyone know if there is an issue with PMs and powered wheelchairs? I have been given a perscription to order one for use now and didn`t even think to ask about PM interference from the electric motor assembly, rechargable batteries, or the recharger itself.
Thanks

Hi, A friend sent me this web site showing the power of cell phones. For those of us who have ICS/PM or who are about to get one, like me, this proved interesting. Good thing I don't have popcorn near an ICD!
I assume that this should be a concern. Am I right?

Thanks for the comments. I have never been a big fan of tats and I am 62. As the post said, it would be my first. But Old Sparky has given me a reason to think about getting one.
I like the zipper with open here from Smart Redd and ElectricFranks knob with high low.
Maybe a switch with on off and a knob with volume.
The comments have pretty much convinced me that the area directly over the ICD are taboo for tattoos.
So may put it...

I am thinking about getting my first tattoo on top of 'old sparky' after the tenderness goes away.
Anyone have and experience with interference from a tattoo gun?
You know you're wired when...
You play MP3 files on your pacer.
