Breast Augmentation

Hello,
I have had a PM for 11 years and now on my 3rd device. I am interested in having breast augmentation and was wondering if anyone knows if this is possible with a pacemaker in place. I have spoken to a surgeon who tells me that he would need to ascertain where leads where and that generally pacemakers are in the same muscle as the breast implant so this may lead to infection etc. Are you aware of or know someone who has had breast augmentation when there has been a pacemaker in situ?
Thanks

I was hoping someone would answer this for you! Sorry, I don't have any personal experience. I'd be wary of it, especially if the doctor mentioned the risk of infection. It can't hurt to get another opinion, possibly the surgeon who did the pm.

I'd be more worried about discomfort than infection. I don't know where your pm is but between the scars that create the pocket it sits in and the wires, I wouldn't want to mess with it. My pm is submammary so I already have quite a bit of scar tissue in the breast that pulls sometimes. No way would I voluntarily add to it, but that's just me.

In my opinion having breast augmentation of any kind may be asking for trouble in view of your pacemaker. Is it worth the risk? Why not get push-up bras and be very grateful for what you have. Can you even picture in your mind what could happen if you had the surgery? Please, please get several opinions before subjecting yourself to surgery. Remember, there are surgeons out there who are greedy and unscrupulous and will tell you what you want to hear. Be very careful.....

I just got my pacemaker replaced a week ago, I am on my second one and my first question to you is where is your pacemaker located? Mine is located below the collar bone and I am getting implants in 6 weeks and I am doing it under the muscle under local sedation and my plastic surgeon has had experience with girls that have had pacemakers. When I went for my initial consult he had done a girl three weeks prior and everything went great. My nurse practitioner for my pacemaker also has another girl that has had implants put in as well. I am getting mine done in a hospital to where they can monitor me.

How did it go?

I know that this topic was posted a while back but I would like to know how the surgery went after implants with already having a pacemaker because I am interested in this as well
