Having recently gone on a holiday, I played it safe and avoided scanners at airports and customs - until the last flight when the less than pleasant security guy 'encouraged' me to go through the full body scanner. At the time I thought that with the volume of travelers having PM's the machines must have been designed to tolerate them. However, I haven't felt right in a couple of weeks....does anyone know whether they really are meant to be safe with PMs?

I wanted to post my continuing experience on Day 5 of my pacemaker experience.
I did have to go to the ER last night, I just havent really felt right since day one.
I was initially set at 60 bpm last Thursday and was fine on Friday, some of the day.
But, the weekend really I just felt off, not right. I still have the lightheadness that I had before the pacemaker.
I came home from the ER with some interesting info- I was now adding a heartbeat here...

Ok friends what a crazy 24 hrs. I went in yesterday for my 1st PM check. Had PM put in for SSS 3 wks ago. Was found to be in junctional rhythm, so dr told me he turned off the venterical lead. Then last night at home I developed sever tachycardia, proud of myself called my EP told me to either go to ER or come see him this am. So went in this morning and heart rate was still over 130. He said he had to use the pacemaker and over ride and stop the artial tachycardia which had gotten up to 240-250...

Here is hoping someone will be able to tell us what this is....My mother who is 72 years old has had her pacemaker for a little over 2 years. Since October, 2011 she has been having this constant burning pain around the PM that travels under the armpit and down her left arm. The Doctor who put the PM in, said the PM is fine. We have had all kinds of testing and no one can tell us what or why she is having this daily non-stop pain. I can't help but think it is a lead or a loose wire....It has...

My mother just had a pm installed a couple days ago but she is still in hospital due to a second surgery to correct a lead that was placed incorrectly and causing fluid (aka blood) around the heart. My mother’s left arm has been swollen for 2 days and she is complaing about pain all they way down her arm to her thumb. She hasn’t been released yet but I fear they made another mistake. Do any of you have some idea what could be causing the pain or what might be wrong.

This is Doc's Notes
"Beneath the external pocket was a very thick outer layer of scar tissue for the pocket. Within that was some yellowish fluid about 10cc. This was drained. The anterior pocket material was d brided as best as possible. I thought that we got the majority of it. The tie down sleeves were removed and there was some dissection towards the clav...

Has anyone experienced problems with the size of the Teligen defibrillator by Boston Scientific? It is much taller than other defibrillators and at times may not fit in the already made pocket. I have had my third surgery to try and correct this issue.

I have been searching for information on PM leads as my 69 year old father just had his second PM implanted just a couple of weeks ago. The new one has three leads and he was told it would be better at keeping his heart from going into Afib. His first night at home after the surgery he said he felt like he was being shocked everytime he moved. He went back into the hospital the following day. The Medtronic people tested the PM and said the third lead was too close to a nerve. The surgeon who did...

Hi... this is my first post. I had a Pacemaker implanted on 11-14-2011. I really have had no issues. However, I have had a fever come and go now for the last 27 days. The highest the fever has been is is about 100.6. It is not constant, but does occur every single day. I have no other symptoms. I had a routine check up with my cardiologist. I told him of the fever and he said, "I do not like a fever with hardware". He has sent me to an infectious disease doc. I see her tomorrow.

Hi All,
I'm a newbie to the club. Had a CRT/ICD fitted last Friday and joined the club (and ordered a power pack) today.
I found the club looking for an answer to a concern I had about periods where my heart felt like it was doing a beat and a half?
From your forum I think I have identified this as PVCs and will stop worrying and just keep an eye on my caffeine intake etc. before I check with Doc.
Thanks Guys and Gals! Looking forward to learning a lo...

Hello, I am new to this site, and I am so happy to see that there are other people out here like me!
In 2/11 I was admitted into the hospital with a heart rate of 33 bpm and my heart rate kept dropping. I was transported to another hospital locally where I live via ambulance where more tests were ran on me and the Dr.s were still not able to figure out what was going on with me other than I was in 3rd degree AV block. They ran lots of blood work, X-rays, 2D echos, and decided that I needed...

Hi, I've written a few times before for my son Luca who got a PM one year ago tomorrow (he's 8 now). He has really been thriving since the operation, but since christmas time has developed a strange movement of his neck- like torticolis. The cardiologist wasnt interested, but after seeing a physical therapist and an osteopath, they feel it is because of his scar. The skin and fascia under the skin thickened up at the incision sight and didnt keep up with the rest of his growth (he grew ALOT afte...
