Airport Full Body Scanners Safe?

Having recently gone on a holiday, I played it safe and avoided scanners at airports and customs - until the last flight when the less than pleasant security guy 'encouraged' me to go through the full body scanner. At the time I thought that with the volume of travelers having PM's the machines must have been designed to tolerate them. However, I haven't felt right in a couple of weeks....does anyone know whether they really are meant to be safe with PMs?

I would suggest that you contact your Cardiologist for a PM check it may have nothing to do with the holiday or airport, I was feeling not so well last January called my Cardio Dr. they got me right in and sent me to the E.R their was indeed a problem no sugery but they did have to come in and adjust my settings discharged after 2 day observation . I hope everything is allright :)

Hiya dragonheart.
I have always had a patdown, but last year Manchester airport (U.K.) installed the new full body scanner. I asked when I arrived if they were ok for pacemaker peeps n was told that they were. I walked through n had no problems at all. Mine is a St Jude pm so maybe some are ok with the new scanners n some aren't
