Hi All,
I'm a newbie to the club. Had a CRT/ICD fitted last Friday and joined the club (and ordered a power pack) today.
I found the club looking for an answer to a concern I had about periods where my heart felt like it was doing a beat and a half?
From your forum I think I have identified this as PVCs and will stop worrying and just keep an eye on my caffeine intake etc. before I check with Doc.
Thanks Guys and Gals! Looking forward to learning a lot more in the coming months.
Cheers!

Hi, If you felt your first PVC after you had the device 'installed' it might well be that the lead placement has triggered them temporarily. Happens to alot of people that have implants. If you already have PVC's they usually ramp up a lot straight after the surgery. Mine were every 3-4 beats for a few hours before tapering down to their usual annoying rate.
Thanks!

Hi Marissa,
I had one episode of 'flutters' similar to this prior to the implant.
These flutters started yesterday (Sunday) after I had the device fitted on Friday.
There is like this dull pain in my chest and my heart keeps doing what feels like a large pulse? The heart rate monitor I use also appears to show a large pulse at my normal rate and a small one (which doesn't get counted as a pulse) in between.
It does sound very much like PVCs mentioned on this site.
Anyway, I am going to stop worrying and go with the flow for a while and see what happens before I call the Doc.
Best Regards,
Paul

Thats almost definitely a PVC. You do say you have a dull pain in your chest though.. if it is actually a kind of pain maybe you should contact your doctor. PVC's often come with a funny feeling, sometimes described as a bit like when you realise you've forgotten something important, only not exactly the same. Sometimes they can make you a teeny bit faint. Uncomfortable but not painfull.

Hi Marissa,
Not really a pain. More like indigestion. The flutters are gone at the moment. No coffee this morning.
I going to try a little walk out tomorrow. If there is anything wrong it should show up then.
At least I'm not worrying now, which was probably making it worse. Thanks

I consider my device to be so reliable, that I never think about a failure.
