I often read about members struggling with their medication and other treatments and asking whether there is an alternative way to treating their condition.
I frequently ask myself the same question and whether it might be better to live with a condition that is only “partially” treated, than to be on maximum therapy which may result in a reduced quality of life?
Of course I am not suggesting that conditions like high blood pressure, high heart rates, high...

I just had my pacemaker/ICD changed out and I'm going to get my teeth cleaned 4 weeks after. Do you get antibiotics from Dr. for teeth cleanings? My EP said it was not necessary.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the club. I had an ICD implant done on 8/19/2022 and it's been tough trying to cope. I have suffered the last year with fatigue, chest pain and my EF dropping below 20% so my Cardiologist and EP decided this was the best option for me. I was diagnosed a year ago with dilated cardiomyopathy. I found this site on a whim and I'm sure glad I did. Recovery has been tough, my left arm is swelling up and the pain has been tolerable some days and others just blah....

First PM implant June 29, 2022. I am 63 years young, turning 64 on Friday. Glad to find this website. Some days, feel good all day, then next day crummy at some point. Just started blood thinner medication, no side effects. Doctor talked about putting me on Beta Blockers. Don't want any more Big Pharma! Does anyone have experience with Beta Blockers? Did they make you feel better?

I have had a pacer (no defibrillator) for many years. Is the Watchman Device compatible with the pacemaker? Probably been covered as a topic many times, although I can't locate where.

Hi, I follow my heart rate and health info on my Apple Watch. Since I got my pacemaker (July 19th), my heart rate variability is very low. Is this something that is controlled by the pacemaker and is that why it's always low? I'm so tired all the time, and sluggish. I was hoping for a spring in my step once my Bradycardia issue was under control but not yet. Thanks!!

Does anyone know a Dr. in the area of Florida that would move a pacemaker from the left chest area to the abdomen. I am having lots of location pain and headaches whenever I use my left arm. My electrophysiologist says he does not implant them in the abdomen.
I'm a 52 year old very active male, I've had a pacemaker since I was 7 yrs old due to heart block from open heart surgery to correct Tetrology of Falot. My first 2 pacemakers were in my abdomen and I had no pain...

I am 8 weeks post-op and overall doing well. I am back ro exercising and feel good during and after.
My question is about bruising and sensitivity.
I bumped my site the other day. Not real hard but definitely noticed it. Now it seems like a bruise is around part of the site. Also if I tap with my finger around the edges I can feel it.
Any thoughts?

My pacemaker was implanted on July 13th, so a bit over 4 weeks ago. Two friends who have pacemakers, both having had them for years, tell me that they really aren't aware of their pacemakers, only notice them when I've asked about them. Mine is quite prominent on my left upper chest and I feel the weight of it when I stand up or change positions. How long before I too can be unaware of it? Will it flatten out?
Next question: seatbelts! My seatbelt falls exactly over my pac...

Hi All,
Well, I've been selected as part of a research study group for the CCM Therapy Device called Optimizer Smart by Impulse Dynamics.
The study will last 3 years, all costs will be paid for by Impulse Dynamics, insurance and the hospital. There are only 600+ study participants in my region.
I am excited and scared at the same time. Having had a tough recovery from my ICD implant - both mentally and physically, I now embark on another implant. I am hopeful thoug...
