Bruising & sensitivity

I am 8 weeks post-op and overall doing well. I am back ro exercising and feel good during and after.
My question is about bruising and sensitivity.

I bumped my site the other day. Not real hard but definitely noticed it. Now it seems like a bruise is around part of the site. Also if I tap with my finger around the edges I can feel it.

Any thoughts?

You are early on in healing. With a hunk of metal in there, I wouldn't be surprised if your skin bruised if it was hit over the pacemaker. It'll be ok. You can't hurt the device. Your skin is probably complaining though🥴

My cardiologist told me to avoid touching the skin in the area of the pacemaker and leads.

Hope your bruising calms down. You could ice it a bit with a towel between the skin and ice for ten minutes or so off and on. Not long.

Hi Fun - glad you're feeling well in general. I assume that the subject line is in reference to the bruise, not just that there is now a metal box inside your chest. I found that my blood chemistry was a bit out of whack for a while after I went through a period of untreated bradycardia prior to implant so perhaps if you feel unusual tenderness in other areas or unusual healing time for some other minor wound like a small cut, you should ask your medical team for advice.

Sorry to hear about your bruising. I am 12 weeks post pm insertion and as just starting to feel like my pm has finally settled in, less sensitivity and itching, etc. Then what happens this past weekend- my pm site got whacked hard enough that I had some soreness at the site for a few days, that I even felt in my arm. I think, as Persephone puts it- we do have metal boxes in our chests. I think this is going to happen and so long as its minor, it's something we have to live with now and again. If you are overly concerned, is ok to check with your physician rather than second guess and worry.  Good luck and hope you feel better.

You know you're wired when...

You have a $50,000 chest.
