Vibrations
Hi! Three months ago I had frequent cell phone like vibrations from my device. When I went in to get it checked, the St jude rep and my dr both acted like this was impossible with my particular pacemaker. The vibrating eventually went away. Now I am away on vacation with my family and it has started up again. My last St Jude device lasted 10 years, this one is only 5 years old, so even as a fluke I wouldn't think it could be battery. The rep said my pacemaker is too old to have the vibration fea...
New ICD, 4 shocks in 2 days
Hello everyone! Just found this forum and have a few questions. My husband had a St. Jude defibrilator implated last Thursday and came home Friday. Yesterday morning soon after he got up he received his first shock. He said he thought he was dying or that his heart had burst. Today he had three more shocks soon after he got up--one that almost knocked him off his feet and two more slightly milder ones. Both he and I are so scared. The only symptoms he had before the implantation was a lit...
Anti tachycardia pacing
Hi,
I had a Medtronic XT DR D354DRG implanted nearly 4 weeks ago. The anti-tachycardia pacing cut-in today at 150bpm and worked fine. I was able to tell that my HR was high but couldnt "feel" any pacing going on just that my HR dropped. My heart feels sore/bruised though. Is this common?
I feel relieved that this pacing worked and I didnt get to defib!
Just for interest I live in the UK and all my treatment and the device is "free" although like everyone else in the UK who has wo...
Seatbelts?
HI all, I was just wondering about the whole seat belt thing with my pm. Does anyone know if we are still required to wear a seat belt even with a pacemaker and if so if I was in a wreck would the seat belt cause any harm to the pm? I go to the dr soon for my follow up appt and I will ask him but I was hoping that someone might have so info on this!
Thanks

Medtronic Warning Sounds
If you have a Medtronic Device, I recommend reading this board and listening to the warning sounds posted here:
http://www.icdsupportgroup.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=5094
I have a Medtronic ICD, which made a beeping sound one day, and I thought it was the neighbors alarm clock, until I realized it was coming from my chest. It was alerting me of a lead impedance issue on my shocking lead (Sprint Quattro). I called my dr and left a message instead of getting a ride stra...
Pacemaker issues?
Hi all, I am new to the PM club. I just had my PM put in on July 17th. The reason that I had to have one is very different from most people. I got diagnosed with inappropiate sinus tachycardia about 2 years ago after getting heart rates reaching almost 200. I had an ablation in February 2012 and another in April 2012. The ablations should have worked, my heart made new electrical pathways deeper into the heart so my EP doctor sent me to a doctor ...

Hi,
found quite a bit on pacemakers but nothing on the ICD board.
So just wondering how long have you had your ICD for?
First set of leads? Any major Problems?
And for all the "electrical Disease" sufferers (LQT, Brugada and so on) like me, any change in Heart Function through shocks or otherwise Device related?
Cheers
Chris

Question from a newbie
Hello all. I had a pacemaker/defibrillator 'installed' back in April. I have been feeling better and my Dr. is happy with my progress. I asked him last week at my last check up about the pain I am still feeling around the unit itself. He said it will still hurt for a little while.
Here's what I'm feeling...I feel a 'mosquito bite' type of feeling that lasts for long periods of time. I also have a real bad burning itch around it. The muscle hurts all the time.
My question is...
Which one?
Hi Everyone,
I've been doing ok after was told a month ago that I may have to replace my device (Medtronic 3 lead type) shortly as the battery levels have dropped. Am going to talk to my Cardio regarding the health of the lead wires. In the meantime, am considering if I should go for another make of ICD. Been reading about St. Jude, Boston Scientific and Medtronic. All have some nice things to say about their product. Any input/suggestion/opinion would be of great help.
Battery replacement
My ICD is implanted under my muscle and has been there since 2007. I am due a box change on Tuesday and am somewhat concerned as to how I will feel afterwards. The initial implantation caused considerable pain as my muscle had been poked and prodded considerably. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Thank you.
feel heart pounding
Hi-
I had a Medtronic ICD but it malfunctioned earlier this year and mistakenly shocked me at least 4 times. I needed to get a new one (Boston Scientific) through another surgery.
Last night I woke up and a few minutes later I felt my heart beating. It’s during the day now and I still feel my heart beating. I don’t know if I’m just having an anxiety attack or if something is actually wrong. I checked with my Dr and he said that my device is...

On may 14,2012 I went in for ablation and they ended up putting in an ICD while putting in the ICD one of the leads punctured my heart. When I came out of surgery I was in the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. They kept telling me everything was fine the next day they came in and rushed me of to surgery quickly they said they need to adjust the leads. The incision is just now healing almost eight later the scab has just now went away.About 3 weeks after I left the hospital I ended back in the...
heart pounding
Good morning to all....one more question I have...I was sitting in a chair relaxing watching a movie...all of a sudden my heart just pounded like it was going to jump out of my chest...about 6 or 8 times...just thud thud hard....what in the world was that...was it my pacemaker taking care of business or what ?...I have had my defib go off because it was set wrong right after the first month but it was reset but this was not like that at all..no pain but thought my heart was going to beat out of...

Hi first of all,
My name’s Chris, living in Germany, and got diagnosed with Brugada last year, had a single Chamber ICD implanted 05/11.
Never had any symptoms, and haven’t had any shocks or other problems related to the device so far.
I do have a few questions though, and maybe someone more experienced can answer one or two.
Is there anyone here who’s had an ICD or maybe a pacemaker, which was fitted at a young age...
OMINOUS?
After reading everything I CAN find about pacemakers. They are given to Everyone with the tiniest reason, heatstroke, heart problems in your family history, etc even just the fact that no one was allowed to speak about thier particular reason for recieving the implant in the cardio icu is more than ominous. With the implant laws about everyone being 'chipped' soon... my husband and father to my children can return home only after his implant is removed. Any consultation reveals that he can only...
What time to return to work
I am an custodian at one local church here in Columbia. I just had a defibrillator placement on Tuesday 26 June 2012.
I was wondering when would it be time to return to work and will I be able to use cleaning equipment such as vacuums and floor buffers?
In need of new ICD no insurance
Any direction anyone can point me, as in phone numbers or websites.
3 years of use & I now have 9% battery life left. After being in regular rhythm for a little over a year, I went back into afib yesterday 6/26/12.
Ain’t too proud to beg.
