Vibrations
Hi! Three months ago I had frequent cell phone like vibrations from my device. When I went in to get it checked, the St jude rep and my dr both acted like this was impossible with my particular pacemaker. The vibrating eventually went away. Now I am away on vacation with my family and it has started up again. My last St Jude device lasted 10 years, this one is only 5 years old, so even as a fluke I wouldn't think it could be battery. The rep said my pacemaker is too old to have the vibration feature even if it were the battery? Am I crazy, feeling this vibration? I just don't want there to be something really wrong and not push the issue. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Thanks!
Maggie

get an answer

Hi! I agree you need to get an answer, be it not a major problem or If a red flag, time is important. Just because you get a look, it does not make you incorrect. It means your medical care is uninformed, indifferent.,arrogant and/or just plain lazy. If you need to, don't hesitate to get your answer elsewhere. Hopeful Heart

Maggie, I used the search function on this site in the upper right hand corner and typed in Vibration and a lot of older posts came up. You may want to check that out.
Otherwise, I hope you are enjoying your vacation.

Some possibilities....

Thank you, everyone, for your tips and advice! I did do some more research online. It looks like there are a couple of possibilities. There was mention of nerves running too close to leads, requiring the PM rep to change the polarity, also possibe interference from an excess of wireless devices nearby. Truly, being in a family vacation house with 14 other people, most of whom have phones, tablets and laptops running, the second might be a possibility- at least this time. You would think that the Dr. or rep would give patients more information about these things! I feel so ignorant about my PM, even after have had one (now on my second) for 16 years! So glad to have found this site. I will be calling my Dr. when I return home to further investigate. Being 100% dependent, I can't risk something malfunctioning with the device. Worth looking into. Thanks again!

You know you're wired when...
You have a new body part.

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.

Hi Maggie, I have not had vibrations, but just from reading your post I think you need to pursue the situation. Obviously something is going on that shouldn't be.
Keep us posted, Cathy
