La Festa Degli Innamorati (Valentine's Day)

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.    Make sure you spoil that special partner in your life, won’t you.  We are very lucky to have found someone to share our lives with, something we may all strive for but not easily achieve.

And for those less successful in finding the right partner or who prefer to enjoy living alone and there are many of us who happily do, make sure you pamper yourself too today.  You are very special too.

Arrhythmia and Thyroid

Hi All,

Hope you sre all going well. Well, Im not sure if I am pleased or not.  For the past year I've had 152, 000 ecotopic episodes in 12 months.  EP said a lot of people can have that many. Some can feel them, some may not feel them, basically dismissed it . 3 weeks ago i started to be treated for hypothyroidism with thyroid medication . I've only had 1100 ectopic rhythms in the past six months. THat's great but Im slightly annoyed , that they did...

I'm one week away from receiving my first pacemaker.  So glad I found this website - now I don't have to go through this alone.

Quick history- Hodgkins Disease in 1993 with chemo and radiation.  Heart attack in 2015 with stints.  Double bypass and double valve replacement to mechanical values in 2017 followed by conitinued cocktail of warfarin, diltizem, metapropal, and digoxin.  Now I've been diagnosed with 3r...

st jude pacemaker and merlin monitor

My wife and I have received our second St. Judes/Abbott pacers in last few months. As we had same model for 7 years plus, interesting that we got replacements and have same new model again.

She started with Merlin monitor a few months ago and I hooked it up into land line.

I got mine last week and Abbott guys in post surgery said we set up your monitor and you just plug it in and your all set. It is set to work with the cellular device.

First night about 2AM my wife wi...

New Generator/Battery

My old pacer was very low on battery so had surgery to install a new Abbottt MP2272 yesterday along with remote monitoring.

I just switched to Veterans Administration for cardiology and they did a complete echo with IV couple of weeks ago. The VA cardiologist said you will need a new aorta valve in new year or so, so maybe we should do an catherization while you are getting the pacemaker change today.. Good,  so I got a two for one prodecure. They just gave me light sedation with t...

getting ICD/Pacemaker

I have my appointment set up to get an ICD/Pacemaker in Houston Feb. 11 by Dr. John Seger. I'm in AFib all the time and there's sometimes a "pause" in my heartbeat. I feel great though. I just got through walking 3 miles and lifting light weights for an hour. I need my exercising for health reasons but more for mental reasons. It's going to drive me crazy to take it easy until I can get back into my normal regiment.

mRNA vaccines for those who may have already had Covid-19

Further to my recent comment 'Not a scientific analysis' there is an early report (not yet peer-reviewed) from a USA based group who have looked at the antibody levels of people vaccinated with mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna), and recording the incidence of side-effects of the vaccine.  They present evidence of a greater systemic reaction to the vaccine in those with previous exposure to the virus SARS-CoV-2, and much higher antibody levels after the first vaccine dose. https:...

Alivecor Kardiamobile

Hi all . I was looking at one of those Kardiamobile ECG machines. For my own personal use and interest.

I was about to buy one then saw on their website that is not suitable for people with pacemakers.

Is this a safety issue or is it an accuracy issue?

Anyone else have one of these and find them useful?

Thanks John

PM for bradycardia, now developed atrial tachycardia!!!

Hello there. I was wondering if anyone has a similar condition:  In 2016 my PM was implanted for bradycardia. Two months ago my EP said I have supra ventricular tachycardia consistent with atrial tachycardia. EP says beta blockers may be the only therapy but is contraindicated because of my baseline hypotension.  Sounds like I don’t have much choice. Any chance there’s someone out there in a similar situation?

UK Hospital data

I have seen a few posts on here over the last few months that suggest a great variation in hospitals when it comes to EP and Cardiology.

How can I found out information on things like number of pacemaker implants, lead replacments and general performance of cardiology departments across the UK?

If I am going to be under the care of an EP for the next forty years it may as well be the best I can get.

Change Doctors? Long and emotional post

I had my first pm implanted February 2010 for 3rd degree heart block (emergency implant with no prior medical condition). No problems until November 2019 when I had 3 short lived episodes of vtach which prompted exercise stress test, echocardiogram, and an angiogram (no blockages). The exercise stress test showed an EF of 20 to 25. The echo was 30 to 35. Soon afterwards it was determined that  I needed a CRTD which was implanted 1/28/2020.

Up to that point I was only under th...

Covid 19 vaccination

Got my first Covid vaccination three days ago, very mild reaction, slight soreness in area of injection. From what I hear, I'm one of the earliest to receive the vaccine. I'm a veteran and rerceived it at the VA Hospital in Wilkes-Barre PA. Booster shot in two weeks. I'll let you know how that one works out. Get the shot when available, let's return to normal.

Good health to all, Check out my YouTube Videos/Search/Ed Rannacher

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
