It might depend on the model

I can't see a PM model for either of you on your profiles.
I'm *fairly* sure that BostonSci Accolade doesn't beep at all. It's certainly not documented in the BostonSci BradyRef manual.
The most obvious things that we, the patients can do, to check battery life is a) notice that Rate Response has been stopped (this is a really late sign - 3months after the PM has indicated it's time to be removed) and b) apply a strong magnet over the PM, hold it there and count your pulse: 100BPM => more than 1 year left, 90BPM => less than 1 year but not yet at Explant time, 85BPM => Explant time reached.
Peeping?

Most pacemakers don't make any sorts of sounds but some do. From what I understand the sound, if there is one, can be like a european police siren, just beeping, or a vibration as you would get on a cell phone message.
In general, the battery is tracked by your Pacemaker technician every time you go in for an interrogation (or send a remote transmission), As the battery voltage nears the replacement value, these visits will become more frequent to track the battery'sm demise more closelym until it's declared time to replace the generator.

Mine started beeping. It would beep every 12 hours on the hour. At first I thought it was the tv remote but finally figured it out. Mine was a BS for vt.
