chest pain with pacemaker

Hello: I am 67, in good shape except for postural hypo tension and brady cardia (resting heart rate down to below 40 and max rate about 105. Had a Biotronix pacemaker installed a month ago. Now I have chest pain while walking. The biotronix techs have tweaked on the software several times but the pain persists.

This week I had them pace me at 50, but no pacing acceleration. Climbing stairs with no pain, but max heart rate only 81.

Last week I went to the emergency...

Pain 2 Months In

Hi all,
I got a St Jude PM2240 implanted 7/7/15 and it's been a smooth ride until today. This morning getting on the train I started feeling shooting pain in the area, it died down but now in the office it's intermittently starting up again.

Is this something I should be contacting my EP about?

Concerned, venting, and confused

So I had a dual lead St Jude PM2210 implanted on 4 Dec 2012. You would think by now, somebody could figure out why I still ALWAYS feel like my heart is beating out of my chest, throwing beats here and there and just generally out of sync. On 31 Jul 2015, I was at my Electrophysiologist office and they turned off my ventricular pacing to see if that would help. I was pacing less than 1%. I asked, "but what about that 1%". It helped for about 10 minutes. As I was walking out of the doctors o...

Punctured lung

I am a very active skinny 78 year old with no real med problems. Found out I needed a pacemaker when I almost passed out a few times. I was a willing subject. Not a bit nervous about the procedure. Everyone I know has one with no problems.

I went into surgery and awoke with a drain tube in my side because my lung had been punctured, oxygen on, terrible (8) pain in my upper arm and terrible abdominal pain if I coughed or laughed,

Dr told me he pierced my lung, I coughed d...

program changed accidently?

Hi ,
Recently had an operation which required the PM CRTD to be turned off. On completion of the op it was turned back on.
The following day I thought something was different and eventually the PM was checked and found to have a different program. DDIR to DDR I think. How can this happen? Did it go to a default setting?
Thoughts please.

My body keeps pacemaker out.ck all the time please

I got a pacemaker in oct 2013 because I had severe bradycardia they put in a Boston Scientific pacemaker model K 173 and a guidant lead 4086. Oh I think they put in more than that but I know one of them didn't go in my heart so they just turned it off only the top ones were paceing the last year. Long story short I got a rash right after the implanted the pacemaker right on my chest and never went away and the doctors forgot about it and so did I until I saw an allergy doctor today I think tha...

EOL after only 4 years!

Hi,
Went in for a routine check on the PM and it came up EOL (end of life of device)! I've only had the device for 4 years (since 2011) and at my last check up 3 years ago (I know I should have gone on a more regular basis) the doctor said that it should last a long time because I wasn't using it much. They had to turn down the voltage because I was getting muscle spasms in my chest.
Now it looks like I need a replacement. I have an appt with a cardiologist on Thursday the 10th and...

Coughing

I have had my pacemaker/icd in for 4 weeks today. The doctor said I would feel better. I didn't feel bad before. I had no pains, shortness of breath, dizziness etc, but I did tire easily...I am 71 so I thought that was normal. I have had left bundle branch blockage for 13 years...no problem there either, except I have also had a 13 year cough. My primary doctor, 2 different ENT, an allergist and a pulmonary dr. All said it was post nasal drip, so I lived with it. In January I found out I have...

Now and then episodes

I had a pacemaker installed Dec. 2015, because of Bradycardia, 40 up to 50 heart rate. Anyway, now and then, maybe once or twice a month, at bed time, around 1:00am or so, I'll have an episode. This morning, around 2:30am, while still awake, I felt my heart racing, and warm flashes around my chest. Immediately, I put on the small monitor on my finger, and found that my heart rate was 120. It slowly dropped down to 40, for a few seconds, then up to 70 or so. During this time, I felt weak, and a...

Confused and Frustrated

So in Jan 2015 they did a av node ablation and put in a two wire pacemaker. much to everyone surprise this caused new issues. I have gone through another ablation procedure that failed they started me on sotohol. I am told that my SA node is making my heart try to beat on its own even though they ablated the av node. One of my cardiologist said that they need to figure something out fast because the new medicine is causing me to have prolonged qt's which in my medical state says can and will b...

REPLACEMENT

Hello fellow pacers,
I posted up a couple of weeks ago but now things have changed. I had my original pacer n October last year and that turned into a big bulge very uncomfy so my consultant did a re-burial. At first (May) it seemed ok but as the months have passed its gotten more and more bulging and sore burning and itchy... plus now the leads are all tangled on the top of the unit! Now the surgeon wants to take the thing out plus the leads and give me a new one on the other...
