Hello fellow pacers,
I posted up a couple of weeks ago but now things have changed. I had my original pacer n October last year and that turned into a big bulge very uncomfy so my consultant did a re-burial. At first (May) it seemed ok but as the months have passed its gotten more and more bulging and sore burning and itchy... plus now the leads are all tangled on the top of the unit! Now the surgeon wants to take the thing out plus the leads and give me a new one on the other side of my chest. I am worried it will be just the same. After all I am the same thin skinny person on the opposite side! Ive mention ed that but he just said he would bury it deeper!! Do I want to go all through this again? Not really. But the surgeon says its not really safe to leave it as it is - the screwheads are almost through the skin. I am so fed up as it will be 3 surgeries within 11 months at the most. Is there any thinnies out there that have experienced the same problem please?

fixing it

It sounds like you definitely need to fix it. I'm no dr but it doesn't make sense to me to move it all to the other side, seems like that's not fixing the problem, just repeating what didn't work on the other side. Maybe consult with a plastic surgeon? My placement is unusual and I had some problems with the pocket last time I needed a replacement (I'm on #4). Rather than deal with it himself, my EP brought in a plastic surgeon. It was probably the easiest job the plastic did all day and the EP could stick to what he knows best and I came out of it with a very comfortable placement. I was told beforehand that insurance probably would not cover it, but they did. Even if they hadn't, I would have happily paid her out of pocket to feel good.

...........I have followed your story from the start, and I'm sorry that it has come to this....
I too had an 'escaping box' and had a total rip out and RH replacement a while back...alls well now.
Do make sure that whoever does this procedure has sufficient experience in box/lead removal...ask questions !!!
Keep PM Club up to speed on things...this sort of feedback knowledge is just what Members really need.

Hi there,
I read you had yours out and replaced on the right hand side....

One previous comment on the forum was to get a plastic surgeon involved. Doctors doing PM implants aren't always the best with what plastic surgeons do and vice versa.
We had one person on the forum with a similar problem and the plastic surgeon idea was put forth. (Was that you too?) But anyway, it might have given the implant surgeon a second suggestion for the implant.
Hope you can find some help.
