What a balls-up! 6 week post op and have just had pacemaker removed yesterday because of infection concerns.
Wound hadn't healed and stitches were visible below scab. Tests showed no infection from swab/blood/echo tests but doc wasn't happy with it so as a precaution leads and device have been taken out.
Plan is to let the wound heal and pop a new one in on right side of chest, hopefully in a month or so. Fortunately have been allowed home until then.
Gutted as was j...

I had a dual chamber Medtronic pacemaker implanted Nov 2019. IMMEDIATELY (a few hours) after it was implanted by normal blood pressure rose to 190/110. It stayed that way in the hospital until the next day despite intervenous BP meds. The hospital released me the next day when my BP went down to 140/90. Several hours later it went up to 160/110 and has remained very high , sometimes as high as 230/120. I walk for exercise 4-5 miles 5 days a week, watch my s...

I had my Pacemaker installed in Feb 17' regular check up every 6 months. Unit has been working flawlessly. I live in the Philippines and have a good cardiologist in Manila. Today I received a reality slap I will never forget: I was driving my stepson to school this morning, with my wife & Mother in law in the car.... suddenly I started geting dizzy, a sensation I feel is normal given the Xeralto, Lasinipril, carvidol, etc I am on. Dizzy turned intense, I felt blood loss to brain...

Hello everyone!
Well my diagnosed pericarditis has passed. I no longer feel how I did. 600mg ibuprofen did the trick. Anyhow I was at the EP office on Thursday and they changed some settings. One I recall was called CLS. Well ever since yesterday I've been having tachycardia episodes with minimal exercise and at rest. My heart rate spikes to about 140 and then it comes back down pretty quick. I have SSS caused by nocturnal bradycardia and nocturnal sinus arrest, never tach...

I have had my PM for 4 days now The pain was unbearable the first 2 days but it has calmed down some except for the pain in my neck and my collarbone. It's hard to turn my neck and it's so painful. The incision sites still hurt but not as bad as my neck. Do I need to call my doctor or am I being hyper sensitive?

I just received my second pacemaker, I had my first one for almost 8 years. This one is an ICD and I received it on 1/3/20. A couple of days after surgery I'm having these twitches in my lower left abdomen. Its not all the time, mostly when I'm sitting or scrunched over. There is no pain, but it is really annoying. I have my post-op appointment on 1/15/20. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this occurance. Hopefully I'll gets some answers next week. Thanks

Does anyone know if a person that has a pacemaker can also have a loop recorder? My EP told me my pacemaker wouldn't have any effect on my pvcs or pacs but it would keep my heart rate to at least 60 because I have a bad sinus node as well as taking Sotalol that slows the heart rate down. I am used to, but certainly don't like, pvcs/pacs but I am getting some real disturbing erratic rhythm runs that kind of get very worrisome. Of course, when I see the EP the problem just seems to hide...

Received biotronik dual chamber pacemaker Dec 3 2019 because of complete heart block. When I'm laying in bed I feel good. When I start moving I'm out of breath going up and down basement steps, both feet are numb, bottom low lip and chin are numb and I'm lightheaded. My pace was set at 60 with aggressive censoring, then they moved me to 70 with aggressive censoring , now back to 60 pace with basic censoring. Still having same issues. Has any else experienced...

Hi there!
My Norwegian mom is 79 and just had a pacemaker placed in three weeks ago. She has always had low blood pressure and was misdiagnosed with aFib, and has now been given the diagnosis of "sick sinus syndrome" after having swings in her rhythm that had her alternately faint and have rapid heartbeat.
She was on beta blockers and blood thinners at various points since her aFib diagnosis about 7 years ago, and they made her feel dizzy and have little...

I had a biotronik closed loop system implanted for orthostatic hypotension. I had electric shocks and ten out of ten chest pain. Two ER visits, dr visit, multiple test and calls before they found out after two weeks that I had a punctured heart and lung. After 2 more surgeries one resulting in a chest tube with one liter removed I am finally home. Has anyone else experienced any of this. If you do make sure you receive echocardiogram and lung cat scan. Othe...

Not sure if this is the best place to idenntify this topic, but does anyone else have an odd sensation in their neck/collarbone area? I'm guessing it's the wire running through my subclavian vein area and over to my heart. It's on the same side of where my pacemaker is implannted. It's hard to describe the sensation - not really a pain but more just kind of a discomfort...maybe slight dull ach or awarenness of presence that's right where neck meets collarbone area.

Hi all
So..here I sit 11 months post-implant of second PM (first removed due to staph epidermidise infection 6 years ago) feeling suspicious....and fed up.
I have not been feeling great for a good 6 months but do not do well with Doctors and make like an ostrich!
I finally went to my GP and was diagnosed with pleurisy just below the PM site. Have completed the full set of Augmentin bombs and still little relief, though pain is better. Still feel oxygenless and...

I am new here and I do have a pacemaker, but so does my good friend. Over the holiday my best friend seemed very depressed so I took him aside and talked to him. He was open with me and told me he was thinking of suicide because of all of his medical issues. I know he takes valium for anxiety and some kind of opoid painkiller for his legs. My question is, if he were to take overdoses of his meds, would the pacemaker keep him alive.
I know this is a bizarre question but I...

I'm a 62 yr old female, I could really use some support. I just got out of the hospital on December 24, I was being treated for reactions for my allergies, as my neck/throat is swelling. They want to remove the pacemaker and leads, but I'm 95% dependent on the top lead and 5% on the bottom lead. I also have some fluid around my heart now that I never had before. They can put in a gold plated pacemaker, but they have found no replacement for the 2 leads. Not anywhere in North America o...

I had a biotronik CLS pacemaker placed 6 days ago for orthostatic hypotension. I have been having severe back pain and shocks. They are worse than labor pains. I ended up in th Er the day after being discharged from hospital. All tests were normal. Chest xray, labs Ekg. The device rep interrogated my pacer. They released me to home. The Dr that placed it thinks its not the pacer but nerve pain for the shocks and the back pain for being on surgica...

At the end of this week I am scheduled for a complete pacer and lead extraction. This will be my second pacemaker, I only received my initial pacer 6 years ago - I'm almost 26.
I had complications with my first surgery (mini lung puncture) so I am definitely anxious about this upcoming procedure.
Has anyone gone through this procedure before?
Was there anything you did before or after to help with recovery and settle nerves?
Thanks so much!&...
