Have a question....I have had my ICD for 12 years (changed 3 times) never a problem, never any setting changes. Last week I was at my Internist and he thought my heart was skipping a beat, so went to heart dr. and have been wearing a heart monitor since Monday. Dr called today and said he wants me to come in to have my setting set higher. I did not ask any question on the phone with him, because I will see him at the time the ICD is set (in about 3 hours) ....I was wondering other than askin...

Hi,
I was in the process of getting hired as a firefighter/emt, when after my physical they discovered many PVC's on the EKG.
Long story short, the Cardiologist said I have a Type II AV block and will need a pacemaker, very soon.
Just curious if it is still at all possible to be apart of this profession? Are there any FFs out there with pacemakers? I have been apart of fire service for over 5 years, have a degree in the field, and honestly can't imagine doing...

Since I don't know when I go into AFib I am thinking of getting a EKG machine and learning how to test myself. I want to go on a month long trip out west with some younger people but if I go into AFib I need to know.
I recently had a cardioversion that took me out of AFib that I had for 45 days. So far I don't think the AFib has started again.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thank,
Jack

A month ago I had a St Jude PM2212 installed and I am still getting used to it. Can anyone tell be what it measures in order to adjust the heart rate and how I can control it. For example if it monitors acceleration can I carry out a sudden movement to trigger a higher heart rate. Also, what information does the Merlin transmit.

Hi, I was told I have 3rd degree heart block @ age 33 male. While in hospital I went into complete block at 18bpm, I was standing up when this happened. I have a MedtronicA2DR01, i feel pretty good most of the time i am just tired of being sore, i am sure it is due to not having full range of motion.
I have issues getting down on the floor or squatting for more than a few min then my bpm starts to drop and i get a little light headed, is this normal or is my body still trying to get use...

HI! I had a PM put in in 2005 due to AF. I just had a replacement I thought of the unit due to exhausted battery. This was done in hospital in the Kansas City area. I just received the bill. The total for all medical services was $17274.39.
After seeing what others have paid I feel lucky!!!!!!!
I am still unable to do much physical labor without wearing out rather quickly. However at 87 it seems reasonable

Any advise please. I have had pacemaker fitted nearly two years ago now. I have recently had a job opportunity which nedded me to lift 40kg boxes. I found myself in some discomfort afterwards not seroius just discomfort. When i was told by the team who fitted the pacemaker to take things easy from now on. No heavy lifting. The point is what weight is reasonable to lift and if i needed to lift anything heavier what would be the complications. How would it affect my pacemaker or my heart. I had...

I'm not sure where my post would go so I'll just post it here in the general postings. I got my pacemaker last month so I'm probably still recovering but I seem to be short of breath alot. Just doing the littlest of things wipes me out. I monitor my rate multiple times of days and it seems to be in the 80's and 90's. Loading the washing machine this morning it raised to 117, I have an appointment with my primary dr tomorrow and my pacemaker rep/cardiologist next month. Is this something th...

Hi
I am waiting on feedback from Medtronic in relation to a proposed 135MV Solar Farm to be built across the road. My Specialist or his Australian Rep don't know of anyone with a pacemaker living near a solar farm and my Specialist replied that my concerns of EMF & RF are reasonable but is waiting on the Medtronics Techs what they think.
I have worked in the electricity industry and have experienced RF and EMF from electricity infrastructure all built to Australian Standard...

Hi Everyone
First time I have posted although I have been reading the forum for years.
I'm on my fourth Pacemaker installed this week. I was very pleased to move to one of the big brands from a ELA Medical device to a new Medtronic Pacemaker.
I contacted ELA Medical previously and they were not interested in providing any kind of official ID. I thought this problem would now be over going to a big brand like Medtronic but it seems that there presence in the UK is...

I've been doing well with my new pacemaker but tonight my heart feels like it's beating fast. Daughter checked my pulse and it feels normal but I don't feel right. Feels like it's speed up and slowing down. Dual chamber, pacemaker dependent. Anyone have any thoughts? Scared. Just saw the doctor today and he said I look good.

Being a new recipient of the PM, I struggled with the lead decision. I finally settled on one simply because I did not know enough. The Dr. Said he,would choose two, but only when the heart was in rhythm
And mine was not therefore the one lead and also I did not agree to shocking paddles.

Hi,
I have a dual chamber PM and I'm positive I'm in AF at the moment. I went to my GP about an hour ago and had an ECG and he claimed im not in AF, but I know the feeling well.
My cardiologist says a PM can make it hard for an ECG to detect AF because it takes over the paving of the verticals which gives a normal readout and s normal pulse rate.
Does anyone have any feed back on this?
I hope I can see my EP tomorrow to find out for sure otherwise it's...

I have an annual worldwide travel insurance as we tend to go on at least three overseas holidays a year, I have just had a pacemaker implanted and informed my insurance company. They told me that I would not be covered in future for any medical problems arising from the pacemaker.
We live in the UK, I am over 80 and my wife over 70. Does anyone know of any insurance company that would cover us with an annual policy.

Hi all. Hope everone is doing okay. Quick question. I think I was told when I got my pm 5 weeks ago that I'm not to have caffeine. But maybe I was dreaming. Ha, ha. I'm really not a coffee drinker, but I miss drinking Coke. Yes, I know it's not healthy, but once in a while? Any feedback would be so appreciated. Thanks. (I was dx with mobitz type 2 block.)

I have a Advisa DR MRI Surescan PM.
When I use my smartphone camera (iPhone 6) the image commonly jerks in correlation with my heartbeat, making it difficult to take photos.
Anybody having those issues?
I asked my EP and he wasn't sure. I'm not sure why I didn't show him, but I will or the Medtronic rep next time.
