I have an annual worldwide travel insurance as we tend to go on at least three overseas holidays a year, I have just had a pacemaker implanted and informed my insurance company. They told me that I would not be covered in future for any medical problems arising from the pacemaker.
We live in the UK, I am over 80 and my wife over 70. Does anyone know of any insurance company that would cover us with an annual policy.

Ask your cardio centre

I bank with Nationwide as well, and get the free insurance, but when I told them about my pacemaker mine went up £180 for worldwide for the year, making a total of £240 with the extra cover we'd already added on for my husband's diabetes. Needless to say the price hasn't dropped on renewal so we're not taking it up.
When I went for my check a couple of weeks ago I noticed the cardio centre had a list on the wall of travel companies that gave good rates for PM users. Might be worth having a word with your centre, or if you private message me I can give you the list.

I have annual policy with Good To Go -I have ICD and had to cancel holiday last October when had to have total ICD replacement as both leads needed replacing. They paid out straight away the full amount with no excess.Other half had insurance with another company who rejected claim -it is best to have insurance with same company even though premium might be a little higher.
Insurance Exclusion Clause

Further to my original post. My insurance company have added the following condition to my policy. " the travel section excludes all claims arising from or traceable to Bradycardia". Should I be concerned?

Try 'All clear travel' insurance - they cover most things with no age restrictions & generally seem v helpful
You know you're wired when...
You can take a lickin and keep on tickin.

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!

You will have to shop around and see who gives you the best deal. If you have had any operation in the previous 6 months you will have to pay a premium on your policy.
I have a good deal with Nationwide but I do bank with them , the policy is usually free for account holders and I pay an extra 50 pounds p.a. because of my age and the PM , together with related heart issues.
So my wife and I get annual cover for world travel for only 50 pounds.
Two suggestions :-
- Go into "Search" on this site and type in " Travel insurance " . You will see previous posts on this subject, many from the UK
- Go to a library and look at Which magazine , there are frequent reviews of the best - buy travel insurance policies for people with medical conditions
Best of luck
