PM is 4 yrs old today

Hi all, I haven't been on this site for a year. Today, 4 years ago my PM was implanted. I look back and remember thinking I'd never be able to raise my arm over my head or wear a bra - so silly!
Today I was punched very near to the PM, I'm alright and there are no concerns. I've been so careful for so long and just didn't pay enough attention to turn away from the punch. Still, it's humbling and important to protect myself in the midst of calming an angry child.

Concerned wife

A husband texted his wife after being involved in a serious car accident :-

" Honey, I fainted at the wheel of the car , drove into a truck and caused a multiple pile-up. Cathy brought me to hospital.
I have been diagnosed with bradycardia which was the cause of me fainting . I have had loads of tests and am having a pacemaker fitted in 10 minutes time. Other heart problems have been found and I will have to take lots of drugs.
Doctor says I may need further operations...

Would like to know when A-Fib starts and stops.

I had a 2 lead Medtronic A2DR01 implanted in June 2015. Complete block so I'm 100 percent paced. Found out I have A-Fib and
since they can see when it starts and stops during a device check I would like to be able to monitor the PM also to know when the A-Fib starts and stops. I'm sure I'm not the only person that would like to be able to do this and maybe something already exist that lets you monitor without giving you the ability to change anything. Anyone have any ideas?
Also I fe...

Tightening of my Chest

I had my Pacemaker implanted January 2015 the following symptoms started in November 2015. While walking up to our mailbox (180ft from house) or walking anywhere, my chest tightens, breathing becomes erratic, dizziness, pain in left shoulder/arm and pain in back. This happens sometimes at rest. Told my cardologist he didn't think it was an issue. I have since fired him and got a new cardologist, he did a test and found I was in AFIB/SVT 82 times in 1.5 weeks. I am scheduled for a heart...

Stuff I no longer can legally do.

It sure would have been nice if someone made me aware that I would lose my pilots license and my commercial drivers license the day I got the pacemaker / defibrillator implanted. It seems that police officers and firefighters or anyone who may ever drive an emergency vehicle gets revealed of duty as well. They did not even want me working as a shooting range safety officer anymore. How many more things are going to sneak up and slap me upside the head with this dang thing implanted in my chest...

When does the ouch go away?

It has been three weeks since my little buddy was implanted. My shoulder still hurts a little. The PM feels like its the size of a baseball LOL and a heavy one at that. I have heard people say they don't even know they have the PM anymore. I am waiting for that time with anticipation.

Has anyone had a replacement due to a recall?

If you have had a recalled device replaced, I have a few questions for you. A friend of a friend has been told hers is recalled. The amount Medtronic is offering for out of pocket expenses is well under her insurance out of pocket. Seems to me it shouldn't cost her anything, just because they aren't offering much doesn't mean she shouldn't go after them for more.

35 year old needing pacemaker

Hi everyone.
Im a young 35 year old male with sick sinus syndrome. I have had fatuige related issues for quite a few years now. I have had so many tests that all came back normal except for my low heart rate. I get very fatuiged, weak, poor memory and exercise intolerance. RHR usually in the 40s.
It has been a long hard journey with several different doctors to finally get a diagnosis.
My cardioligist refered me to see an imunologist to rule out any immune diseases. He said if no...

Hi all, just checking in

Been a long time from my last posting. Hope all are doing good. For those that just got a PM, we all went thru what y'all going thru now. Yes, things are not normal, but over time, y'all will adjust to having that silver package in you and just forget all about it. Well, most of the time instead all the time. LOL

Well, I'm still hanging in there. Still have my heart. And yes, still fighting this heart failure and still have hope. It's been almost 5 years now with my CRT-D. 100% paced...

Pacemaker - Getting used to it

Hi there,

I finally got my pacemaker inserted 4 weeks ago with a Medtronic Consulta with Minerva technology in a partial pacing mode. I still have some weeks before I get cardioverted and have the pacemaker fully functional. Im lucky to have such technology fitted and are looking forward to the results it will bring.

What I would like to know has anyone experienced a roller coaster of emotions towards their pacemaker, the whole process during their recovery phase? if so how...

just tired

Hello all, I am 2 1/2 years now with pacer and overall doing ok. But for about 6 months now I have been very tired throughout the day. I lie down several times, might take a short nap/day. At night I have deep yawnings, maybe 20 to 30 before I get to sleep. Haven't seen a cardiologist for over a year. So, am wondering if anyone else has these "things" or is this just an aging process with a pacer? I am a young 75....
Thanks for any thoughts, Nita

Shoulder pain 6 weeks later...

Hi Everyone! I had a biventricular pacemaker implant on January 25, 2016. It is exactly 6 weeks ago today. I go back for an optimization appointment on the 17th. I've experienced zero improvement in my symptoms. Now I'm suffering from shoulder pain. I was instructed not to lift my arm above my shoulder for six weeks, no cleaning or doing anything with my left arm to prevent the leads from moving. I have been very careful washing my hair taking my shower and basic life functions. But let m...

Heart rate

Hi. I have 3rd degree total heartblock I was told. That is why my rate suddenly plunged to low 40s high 30s. Now with pace maker I often get into the 70s. The rate response thing is turned off so I was told anything over 60 is my heart doing the work. But if I have complete heart block and prior to pacemaker I was in the low 40s, how is it now my heart can be beating 70 on it's own?
