I have bradycardia and several other conditions. No PM yet, but may get one in early 2016. Other conditions will require surgery under general anesthesia. I'm assuming I will get a PM before undergoing any other surgery.
What I want to know is: what happens when a PM wearer undergoes general anesthesia? Does the heart continue to pump at a rate set by the PM? Or does the anesthesia make the heart rate slow down despite the PM? Is a larger dose of anesthesia required to when th...

I am a 59 year old male in pretty good physical condition. Resting heart rate in the low 30s that responds to exercise. diagnosed with sinus bradycardia and /or complete heart block at rest. No symptoms. Scheduled to get a dual chamber pacemaker in a couple days. Still not convinced I need one but more than one electro physiologist has recommended it for safety sake. concerned about quality of life after. looking for responses from those who had a similar situation. Also having it placed sub pec...

I currently live in China, which is awesome! I have had my pacer since May 2011, so almost 5 years. It's been causing me pain lately. More annoying than actually sever pain. I've been traveling around quite a bit on my break, so that could be it? I just don't know if I should brave the Chinese hospital, or wait another 6 months until I'll be stateside to go see my doctor. Let me know what you think!

It has been a long time since I was active on this site. I just logged in and feel like I am back home among friends. My 4th pacemaker will be implanted in about a month and a half. The last procedure was over 8 years ago. Is there anyone on here that has gone through this 3 or more times? I can't remember how long your are in the hospital and how long the procedure takes. Can they use the same pocket for several repeat implants?

Hi, I'm sure I've seen posts about this before but can't find them.
Does anyone suffer with heartburn/indigestion feelings post PM insertion? I'm 6 weeks in, and never suffered with heartburn or indigestion, but now I get it quite often. I haven't changed my diet, the only thing different is that I have a pacemaker.
Any thoughts? I'm due to see cardiologist on 12 January for post-op review so might raise it with him then.

This next Monday I go in for a pacer replacement. Dr. says it only takes a half hour and then you go home. I would like some feedback from those of you who have had replacements done. Let me know what to expect. Like how long were you sore, how long before showering. Just general things. Also how long before more strenuous exercise, Thanks

Hello all,
I've had a dual-chamber Medtronic pacemaker placed in October 2015. It was inserted due to sick sinus syndrome and junctional rhythms occurring fairly frequently. Since having the pacemaker, my life is 100% back on track. I also suffer from migraines and hypertension. Migraines are treated with Botox and verapamil. They are nonexistent. I went in to see the cardiologist yesterday (not the electrophysiologist but the general cardiologist), and he immediately dismissed my need for...

Hi! I'm new to the club. I've had a pacemaker for a year. I'm 53 and very active, but my heart rate decreased over time to 35 beats per minute. My mother also needed a PM at 50, so I guess it's in my genes. I would like to know if anyone has had problems when wearing Bluetooth ear buds. I recently purchased them & notice that my PM feels strange when I pair it with my cell phone for workouts.
Do you have a dog?

Hi guys! I've had my PM for about 3 years now and since then I've been too nervouse to adopt a dog. I'm afraid they will accidentally paw at, or headbutt my PM site. I am really petite so the surgeon was not able to get the PM under my muscle, so there isn't alot of natural protection there, if you know what i mean.
Do you have a dog? Have you been able to train them to avoid that site?
Thanks!
~Renee
