Where are you? The rules vary by country and state.

And what is the underlying problem that requires the PM?

depends where you are

Pacers are ok more often than not, icd's are not allowed cdl's.

Check with DVLA

You need to inform DVLA regardless if you're in UK, they can send you a form or you can download it.

" Fact is your pacemaker wouldn't work long driving acrosws the ocean anyway. "

The pacemaker is water proof. It won't have any problems if you drive, fly, swim, or row across the big pond.

However, I make no such guarantees for the truck.

Also trying to meet the DOT and UK rules at the same time will "drive" him crazy.

CDL's

I have an Ohio CDL and there is no issue with pacemakers. It should not have any impact on getting a CDL in the U.S.

ICD NO cdl

just took physical for dot and passed with flying colors until the ICD was seen. Doctor said sorry buddy. you just failed. DOT passed law last year that a pacer with a defib in it weather it works or not is a total fail. no CDL .
Sorry friend.
