This next Monday I go in for a pacer replacement. Dr. says it only takes a half hour and then you go home. I would like some feedback from those of you who have had replacements done. Let me know what to expect. Like how long were you sore, how long before showering. Just general things. Also how long before more strenuous exercise, Thanks

Replacement

Yeah........I agree....piece of cake. I had a PM replacement a couple of months ago. I went in at 7am. Surgery at 8:30 am and home by noon.
I had a light anesthesia so I was semi-conscious during the procedure. Hardly any discomfort. They stitched it on the inside with dissolving stitches and put a water-proof bandage on it. They told me I could shower the next day. The only problem was that the water-proof bandage leaked after the 2nd day. It felt wet but I left it on for a couple more days. When I finally decided to take it off it was like Niagara Falls. It was leaking water in at the top, but the water could not escape, because of the water-tight seal at the bottom.
In any case, it all turned-out very well.
I am sure you'll find it the easiest surgery you've ever had.
Wish you the best.
Sincerely,
David
super easy!

I am on #4, have been home by lunch time after an early appointment. How long until it can get wet depends on how they close it.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!

I had my ICD replaced with a CRT-D in October, then had a lead revision in December. Neither time did I experience any pain whatsoever. I was put under for the CRT implant since they test the defibrillator function, but the lead revision they just anesticized (I know that's spelled wrong, who cares) the site but I chatted and joked with everyone during the procedure.
Had to stay overnight when they inserted the CRT because of Jesus Jolt testing but was in and out for the lead revision same day.
Just FYI, they cut the same spot and open the pocket. Mine was sealed with internal stiches and the incision was sealed with super glue.
Piece of cake and no animals were harmed during the making of this procedure...
