Law Enforcement

Stupid question... Due to the physical nature of being a police officer, is there an automatic disqualification for hire if pacemaker was installed prior to application process? I would imagine that unarmed self defense and wrestling around with subjects maybe to much blunt trauma to the pacemaker.

Waiting for VA so I can get on with my life!

I had PM installed, went through MEB/PEB and awaiting the percentage rating. Going crazy wanting to apply for employment as I have recieved my "Unfit MEMO". Understand that once I sign my paperwork agreeing to the percentages, I have 90 days to "vacate the army". I have 18 years in service and can't believe I have to go find a "real job". What I am asking is there anyway to get a locked in date with terminal leave, so I can tell the would be employers of a estimated start date?

E-Mail Addresses as Screen Names

This is an open letter to EVERYONE!

I've seen several members using their e-mail address as a screen name.

VERY BAD PRACTICE! Nasty people troll these kind of web sites to find just such screen names & addresses out in the open.

What they do with them is anyone's guess - but you can safely bet that it is NOT anything that the owner appreciates after the fact.

Strongly suggest that if you are among these folks that you go into the admin section & edit...

Thanks! And a question

First post, but have been getting quite an education here since my emergency pacemaker installation 11/7/13. I just wanted to thank everyone for the information and giggles during my recovery.

Now, for my question. I'm wondering if anyone has had aortic valve replacement AFTER having a pacemaker. There is plenty of info about getting a pm after valve replacement, but nothing about the situation I find myself in now. I found out I had a bicuspid aortic valve 6 years ago when I was 39....

Hi can anyone advise if there is a UK based site that provides nice gold pendants for pacemaker patients. im going abroad and would feel safer wearing a pendant than relying on someone finding my id card if i was incapable of telling them any info.

Women are different to men !

For some time I've noticed that women are different to men - you have a look next time you are in a shopping mall or a hospital or on a plane.

I've spotted that women are a different shape, they get more emotional and tend to be more bossy than men.

..but, it seems that there are other differences :-

A new study has shown that exercise affects womens' heart rates differently to those of men . The director of stress testing at the Mayo Clinic reviewed 25,000 stres...

Big breasted with a pm

Hello all!
I just had a pm implanted a couple days ago in hopes of managing my a fib. I am learning the ins and outs of living with a pm. I do have a couple questions that I think a woman living with a pm can answer better than my cardiologist at the moment. I am a large breasted woman and I am worried about lingering pain after everything has healed will I be able to still wear a bra comfortably or while that cause undue pressure on my pm? Also I love to sleep on my stomach, the next six w...

very odd feeling at a concert

I had an interesting experience last weekend and want to know how the mechanics of my pacer handles such an event.
Here goes: I went to hear/see the Blue Man Group on Saturday. They played in a Civic Theater which seats about 1200 and is normally used for plays, musicals and ballet. I was seated in the 20th from the stage, dead center. There were many large to huge speakers rigged around the stage. The act opens to a very low bass sound that swelled to a roaring rumble that vibrated...

HIGH VOLTAGE & PM ~ ~ ~

Does anyone know how the following electric lines affect PM?

I am not talking of the electric lines running up/down neighborhoods. I am wondering about the big, tall, broad, steel high voltage towers with the big coils of electric cable running from one to the other across country carrying the Big 'stuff'.

I have a chance to stay at a house indefinitely which has one of these big power lines running overhead. Back in May, 2009, when I joined this PM Club, I think I rememb...

PRAYER WARRIORS NEEDED ~ ~ ~

I have just signed on to PM Club after many, many months of my absence. So many new people have joined since I last was here. WHAT a Great bunch of people on PM Club ~ ~

For those of who did not know me before, I joined PM Club back in May, 2009 b/c a Heart doctor told me I had A-Fib, had tried meds, shocking my Heart, etc. and He suggested a pacemaker to help my heart remember to 'blip' when it paused for A-Fib! This scared me to death, I had no one to talk to about a PM, so I w...

Getting a Pacemaker soon

Hi everyone. I just found out on Tuesday from my Cardiologist that I will probably be getting a Pacemaker. My heart rate has been staying in the 40's and he said a pacemaker is the only thing that will fix this. He is going to run some more test and decide then. I am really nervous and scared, but also relieved that I got a doctor to listen to me and my issues. Need someone who has been through this to say it will be better, I will feel better, and I will be able to live a normal life. I am on...

Shock while getting mammo

Hope to hear how you fared when/if you went for an interrogation on pacer. I am due for a mammo and do not want to do it until I hear your response.
My pacer seems to be at the top of the breast and I'm afraid it will be "bumped". I don't like pain..
Thanks for answers, Nita

1 year old birthday today

Last year at this time I was in the hospital on death watch. I had 3 doctors come into the room and tell me and my wife that I had less then 6 months to live. Told the doctors to just get me back on my feet and fired all three of them. They wanted to send me home on hospice care, throwing in the towel on me. I wasn't going there. I had a talk with the head cheese doctor before leaving the hospital and he agreed with me.

To this day, those three doctors have nothing to do with my case....

Update on daughter

Hi all
2 years after her symptoms started, my daughter finally saw our GP on Monday about them. She asked me to go with her, which I did. Our GP is lovely, a really good Dr.

She told him about her blackout, now daily palpitations (fast palps), the exhaustion she feels when she gets the palpitations.
At times the palpitations last for hours.

For those on here who don't know me, I have had 3 arrhythmias, 3 ablations & have a PM.

Our GP has arranged for ou...
