Hello all!
I just had a pm implanted a couple days ago in hopes of managing my a fib. I am learning the ins and outs of living with a pm. I do have a couple questions that I think a woman living with a pm can answer better than my cardiologist at the moment. I am a large breasted woman and I am worried about lingering pain after everything has healed will I be able to still wear a bra comfortably or while that cause undue pressure on my pm? Also I love to sleep on my stomach, the next six weeks are going to be really hard for me. However what worries me is that my breasts will pull and place extra pressure if I sleep on my stomach, anyone care to let me know their experiences? I am hoping you all might be able to answer these for me.

Big breasted with a pm

I am not a large breasted woman. However, I can tell you that for the first month or so, I could sleep only on my back. Since then, I sometimes can sleep for a short time on the opposite side of where the pm is located. I still have difficulty sleeping on side where pm is located, and can only do so for maybe l/2 to one entire hour. Not sure if this information helps you. Just letting you know my situation. BTW, I was told that my pm is rather close to the skin surface (which I assumed was normal -- not having seen others pm/incisions/locations).

Welcome to the Club Hudmon3. I, too, have heavy, pendulous breasts. I had a reduction 8 years ago; highly recommended! But I'm still a full C/D cup.
Surely, the placement of a PM was at a man's discretion since it lays under the bra strap 99% of the time. It was quite sensitive and uncomfortable for about 2 weeks. During that time I tried to roll a sock and place it between my skin and the strap. I was still uncomfortable so I just went with a strapless bra until it stopped hurting. Depending on how large you are, that may not be possible. Tylenol helped but some of it felt like nerve pain and it didn't help that.
As far as sleeping, that was the only time I used the sling because I typically sleep on my left side with my left arm above my head. The sling was the only way I could remember NOT to raise my arm that high.
Each night when I lie down, it seems like the PM is sort of "in the way." After a bit, it feels like it gets in the right place and all is well. And I can sleep on my stomach again, too.
All the best, Friend.

There are some women who always have some degree of discomfort, but the vast majority heal and are fine. If your regular bras aren't comfortable yet, check out the athletic ones. They have a lot of support but can be a lot softer and the straps hit a different place. There is no one size fits all, you'll have to try a few and see what works for you. But odds are good after a month or two, you will be able to wear whatever you want comfortably. That goes for sleeping, too, took me about 6 weeks to get back to where I could sleep in any position. Something that helped me was hugging a small pillow, kept my arm down and prevented me from rolling over.

I had my PM implanted at the end of February and am just now starting to sleep on my side. I find that putting a pillow (I have feather pillows on my bed) under my breast makes it a lot more comfortable.
I guess I was lucky, my surgeon situated my PM so that my bra strap doesn't go across it.

It took a while for me to get back to my stomach sleeping and it can be a bit uncomfortable for you. I had my PM in October and wore the sling--BIG MISTAKE--I have a very bad shoulder now and am in PT for it now.
The sports bra's work best and for sleeping use a body pillow or king pillows for extra comfort.
Good luck!
