When you have VT ablation can they tell if it is a success straight away or do you have to wait till you have your ICD checked to see if you had less VT episodes?tks

I'm a 52 year old personal trainer, who has been diagnosed with a bradycardia -- slow heart rate to a 3.5 second pause and a wandering pacemaker. I don't know if the bradycardia is causing my dizziness, but I have noticed that I get dizzy when my blood pressure drops. Lots of unstable blood pressure. The last cardiologist decided that since my ejection fraction is 65%, I don't need a pacemaker. I don't know what one has to do with the other? Should I get a second opinion?

Hi Everyone, I had a pacemaker put in 2 weeks ago. I am feeling ok, but finding it difficult to get to sleep and stay asleep. I wake up after a few hours and can't get back to sleep. I am not in pain or uncomfortable. Has anyone else had this problem? Also how long before you are completely back to "normal" after the surgery. Ilook forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

Hi
After having my cardiac implant inserted on the 14/2 all was going well until the 28/2 when it started oozing rapidly was very red and sore. I became very unwell very quickly and then the wound decided to split open, it was obviously badly infected..
Needless to say I ended up in the ER on IV antibiotics and after 24 hours of that and explaining my history 1000 times to different doctors and nurses they decided that the implant needed to come out!
As I'm sure you will all under...

When I first got my pacemaker 3 years ago, I came here and received wonderful support! Everyone here calmed my fears and I finally got over my anxiety of having one and have accepted my new pacemaker way of life. I had my implanted because of neurocardiogenic syncope. I have the Medtronic MRI safe model. At most of my check ups, my pacemaker was kicking in 15 % of the time. Now at my last check up, they say I might have atrial fib. My heart has been racing more than normal and I also experienc...

Ok if someone could help me understand why because this doesn't make sense to me:: I've had a low heart rate off and on now for the last several days ( on a monitor for that) I've also felt very lightheaded and not very well. I tried an experiment although my oxygen levels seem ok ( I have a pulse oximeter) I tried some oxygen ( I normally sleep with a small amount of o2 at night) anyway it seems to help with the lightheadedness and other symptoms but why if my o2 levels are normal?? Other ques...

Since joining this site I've figured out two things; everyone's PM experiences are different and there's a lot of good information to be found on this website. One of my recent experiences involved me, my PM, and a battery operated AM radio about an arm's length way on my desk in my basement office. A few days ago, I came downstairs to my desk and started working when I noticed a ticking in the static on my radio was about the same pace as my heart beat. Since I'm not 100% paced the ticking wen...

Eight month anniversary on Monday for ICD/pacemaker implant and 8 1/2 months from 100% blockage of LAD heart attack. Ended up with 30% EF and significant heart damage. The ICD was result of V tach episode after the heart attack.
Can't believe the differences that have happened in those eight months. I've reduced my stress, lost 26 pounds and I am exercising six days a week for at least 30 minutes. Doing the treadmill at 3.7 mph and going up to an incline of 10 for at least 9 minut...

Hi I am new here and have had my pacemaker for about 4 mths. About a week and a half ago I was shoveling really heavy snow and flinging it high to get it over the snow pile. Since then every time it kicks in I get pulsing over the pm matching my heartbeat. It is so annoying! I called the doctor and they said if I feel pain call. I don't feel pain but I can't imagine that this is normal! any suggestions would be truly appreciated. thanks! PS hope this is the right place to post this!

I've told people on this forum you have to be your own advocate. Or, if you can't, get someone to be your advocate.
I'm finishing with cardio rehab at a place I'll call Malleys. They've done a wonderful job and deserve all the credit. But in case someone takes this posting the wrong way, they'll remain nameless for the moment.
So I'm finishing with cardio rehab. Malleys says I have to have another stress test and blood work. Where to go? Malleys says they'll be happy...

Took your advice and got a copy. I will take to it to the pre op party. Nurse called me this am and told me she had the rep scheduled and to pick something else to worry about. Like the 6-10 inches of snow coming in this weekend. Breaks my heart to miss another lovely snowstorm.

I had my combination pacemaker/defibrillator "installed" a couple of weeks ago. It has not been a picnic, and the hour or two estimated to do the surgery turned into four, with my heart stopping about two hours in - when it wasn't supposed to. I am not sure what I ought to be feeling, but it does feel different. Funny to think that, a couple of months ago, I had no idea there was even a problem.
Anyway, hello to all!

Link to first walk with my new pacemaker ; ). Got it monday took out it for about 1/2 mile today. Battery was running low on the garmin (I had tracked my hr about 22 hrs prior to the walk pretty boring 60 bpm for the most part) so no gps or other data, but anyway felt great to get out. Depending on the weather intending to do 1 mile in the morning with the wife, walking to a breakfast spot. Will make sure the garmin is fully charged and rea...

Talked to the preop nurse this am. Politely requested a rep for this party. She said don't worry, we just throw a magnet on it.
Politely informed her that switching DDDR mode to DOO mode means the pacemaker does not sense or inhibit, increasing the probability that an R wave can land on a T wave and precipitate VT/V fib. And that I prefer having a pulse. Silence. Then she said I will schedule a rep. Smart nurse! Thanks everyone who advised me on this.
