Hi
After having my cardiac implant inserted on the 14/2 all was going well until the 28/2 when it started oozing rapidly was very red and sore. I became very unwell very quickly and then the wound decided to split open, it was obviously badly infected..
Needless to say I ended up in the ER on IV antibiotics and after 24 hours of that and explaining my history 1000 times to different doctors and nurses they decided that the implant needed to come out!
As I'm sure you will all understand it is sooooooo frustrating as I have had every test known to man to diagnosis my syncope and seizures they finally believe it is heart related, I wait to have the implant in to be able to record my heart during an event and then I can get some answers and then the appropriate treatment for the heart but instead I am that 1 in a million whose becomes so infected it needs to be removed!!!!
Back to square one!!!
So it was removed this morning and now I am in more pain than I was with the insertion of it thanks to the infection and feeling a bit sorry for myself (along with being very groggy from the great painkillers)
I do however take comfort in the fact that there are a lot of people FAR worse off than myself but I am allowing myself one day to wollow in my own self pity and then tomorrow will be another day.
Has this happened to anyone else? If so I am hoping they can implant another once my infection is under control as this was my last hope!

So sorry to hear you had to have it taken out!! How frustrating. We have a few members who have been through the same thing. Once you heal completely, they can put it back, usually on the other side.
If/when you have it replaced, ask about an aegis pocket. It's an antibacterial mesh pocket that holds the pm.
You know you're wired when...

Hi Tracey
That's great advice, when I go back to the hospital next week to have a check up I will discuss the antibacterial mesh pocket when they decide it is safe to go back in for round 2!
Feeling sore and sorry for myself still but I'm sure that wont last long :)
