Happy Valentines Day !

Just a friendly wave to all on here. Interesting that the heart is such a prominent symbol for this holiday. No accident. The heart and its functions are so integral to our feelings and emotions. It is impossible to separate mind from body. So it should be no surprise that anything that effects our heart function would also have an impact on our emotions. To all of you who may be struggling in one way or another, I send you my sincere wish that as your body heals you also find peace of mind. It...

It wasn't Boot Camp, my error

It was Body Combat and it wasn't for me. I went to the class with my friend. It incorporates karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai, whatever that is.

It's all fighting moves and high kicks, leg kicks and side jumping. We lasted about 10 minutes using the "options" for the jumping. My hips are really sore and reminding me all day. Not good for a recently replaced hip and 2nd bad hip with arthritis and bone spurs. Now I know. I'm looking to add something else to my r...

Advice needed please

Hi
I posted something earlier today, plenty of reads bit no comments back as yet. I am desperate for someone to shed some light on their experience or knowledge on the recovery time and what to expect when having a loop recorder inserted. I am having this done in the morning and am very nervous at this point. My info is very much appreciated 😄

Sobering thought

Hi all,

Just had my PM check and plucked up courage to ask for a print out of the results. I was so supprised to see that in 2 1/2 years my little box of tricks has paced me 113.3 million times. Aren't these little guys just the best?

Love peace and happiness to all.

heart walk

I normal do our communities annual American Heart Association 5K. This year I am forming a new team as requested by friends and family, and am having difficulty coming up with a clever name. I originally was fitted with a PM in late September, due to bradycardia. Since then, I have been blessed with SVT as well, and am awaiting yet another surgery. During this procedure I will be having my pacemaker switched to my right side due to pocket issues, my lead extracted, a new one placed and an ablati...

Complete Heart Block?

33M, had a slow heart rate at least since I was 16. It's around 27 bpm, resting. Got an EKG at a physical a couple years ago, doctor told me it would be a good idea to see the cardiologist. Finally got around to it, the cardiologist ordered blood work, an electrocardiogram and a 24 hr Holter monitor.

The cardiologist says I have a complete heart block and need to have a pacemaker. He's having me go to an electrophysiologist tomorrow morning for an additional opinion.

It was...

Asking for ideas?

A long story made shorter is below. I am frequently dizzy and somewhat confused .. My pulse can be normal when this occurs. My blood pressure is not necessarily high at my usual 149/75 or so or can plunge suddenly with an evert. I have a pacemaker which has a low of 60 bpm. I have near ideal lab results with no out of normal readings on very extensive testing. I have failed a tilt table test passing out at 24 minutes and wear compression 20/30 stockings. The sox do not seem to be effective. Have...

Romance & heart problems

There's a combination of romance and heart disease in the movie "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" starring Christina Applegate. It's based on the book by James Patterson. It's a romantic drama and on Netflix. Ladies might like this movie. Ok, may be guys too.

Have a nice day.

Good Medicine

I went to the gym today and I'm doing my usual workout and this young woman comes in the room. She's at least 30 years my junior and very fit. So she goes on the horizontal leg press machine which she saw I just finished (70 lbs. for me) and I go on the hip adductor. I'm on my 2nd set and she sits in the machine right next to me. She glances at my weight stack (80 lbs. for this one) and then stares at me.....it was awkward so I smiled but I'm thinking....what?

And then she spoke....

NEW INNOVATION FOR DEALING WITH BRADYCARDIA

Good Morning All,

I recently read this article in ScienceDaily about the latest innovation in pacemakers. St. Jude Medical has just implanted the first leadless pacemaker in the U.S. The device is intended for those dealing with bradycardia and is in Clinical II trials. For those of you getting a pacemaker replacement or are preparing for a new pacemaker, you may want to look into this new device-it sounds remarkable. The device has a battery life of more than 15 years and is lead...

Limitations for children with pacemakers

My almost 6 year old son has had his epicardial pacemaker for six months. We are still trying to get used to the do's and dont's. Initially we were told he couldn't play dodge ball or basketball during recess, so all he did was swing on the swings every day. Then they studied magnets, in class, so we had him stay away from the magnet table. Now the school is having weekly skating lessons. Not sure how safe that is. Does this ever get easier? Guess I am still mourning his lack of normalcy.

Hi. Questions about Echo readings.

Hello, I have had a PM since 2000, and know how to live with it, but as far as normal heart problems, im kind of blind about. Ive had plenty of EKGs and Echos done in my life, and have never had to be on any kind of heart medication or beta blockers or anything. But my recent Echo readings apparently show that my heart isn't squeezing enough blood. Its only squeezing 40% when the norm is 50-55% according to my dr. He said he would prescribe me a medication called Coreg, but did not go into detai...

Transmitter

Question. I have a Merlin Home Transmitter that was prescribed by a cardio doctor at Kaiser, I no longer have Kaiser. Is it possible to have St. Jude (Merlin) remove Kaiser? as Kaiser was always the one calling me after transmitting.

Tachycardia

Just curious if anyone has a pm because of tachycardia, I had my pm implanted at age 15 because my heart would literally just stop beating (not skipping beats, just stop) and my resting heart rate was upwards to 140 bpm just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience :) thanks!!

HR data

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/435954292

My heart rate on a average day. This is about 1/10 of the data I collected over the last 2 1/2 month with my garmin. It also agrees with the halter monitor data that the doctor collected.
